Wrapping up the week
In a word: Exhausting.
The plus being that most of this huge thing we're doing right now (which was supposed to be later this summer, but one of the upper mucky-mucks wants to take vacation) is almost done. One more detail to take care of either on Monday or Tuesday and that will be all for me, at least for some time. There are two more big projects looming, though.
I had another annual project I had to wrangle over (more so than usual, it seemed), but I finished that off and sent it to the appropriate sub-division of the Ministry on Thursday, with a note in my email that I was sending it "on a wing and prayer." I'm sure she'll have a multitude of questions for me when she reviews the file, though I added in cell notes all over the place.
And the third project that was due from all the departments/teaching units on Friday is mostly done (my part, I mean). I think only two departments didn't submit their data, but after one initial send out of the spreadsheet and two follow-up reminders, I'm done with them. They're not in kindergarten. It's not like any of us likes doing this; it's required under the terms of the faculty collective agreement. We'd happily chuck it if we could.
Frankly I feel like I got three weeks' work done in one.
My eye tic (eyelid twitch) has progressed "'nicely," because in spite of how tired I am, I'm not sleeping well at night, and actually had very little sleep last night, thanks to both cats (especially Derry) and the chronic pain issue. You know how you're SO tired you're just completely out of it, but still feel keyed up and can't settle? That's my state.
So, now that I've finished venting--okay, bitching--I'll share a few cat snapshots from this week. I took plenty of floral snaps too, but those can wait.
This is Callie, she's about 10 -11, adopted from our local humane society. I chatted with her "dad" for a few minutes one morning, on the way to work (he had just brought her out and secured her leash).
She has lovely soft fur, by the way. :-)
And I've shown this boy or girl before; s/he lives a couple of streets away.
It was the first time I've been close enough to see the mismatched eyes (I think). S/he actually had been in the middle of the road, stalking another roaming house cat across the street, when a van came along. I was freaking, hoping the driver would slow/stop, and he did, so the cat made it safely back to her/his side. Stupid-assed human owner, letting the cat roam free. (Wait, I'm not supposed to be venting anymore. LOL.)
Right now I'm watching Germany and Ghana play their match in the World Cup. Heritage (on Dad's side) demands I root for Germany, but I've always had a soft soft for the underdog. Good thing I really don't have any vested interest in any team.
That's it for me. I truly hope everyone else's week has been calmer and far, far less stressful. (Okay, Eileen, I already know your week wasn't calm and stress-free, unfortunately.)
Peace.

I just came off of a week of going back and forth between having email access and not. Crossing fingers that I think that Time Warner might have solved the problem. It was out more than it was on and then when it came back it kept regurgitating HUNDREDS of emails that I had received since June 11 (when the problems began). Seeing the great kitty photos helped ease my stress, cats have a way of finding you......you have the "blue light!"
The mostly-white cat in your pictures reminds me of my Josie, but without the tabby spots on her back. Does this one have eyes of different colours, or am I seeing things in the second picture?
Thanks for the comment about the cat-tree in my sitting room. It was custom-made by a man who constructs such things. The base is huge and the whole thing is very steady. It has never so much as wobbled. I am lucky to have it.
I agree, it annoys the crap out of me when I see cats roaming. That old saying, if you love something set it free is just wrong!
Here's hoping your weekend is less stressful and more restful! (Maybe the neighbours will keep the noise down?)
Some time in the garden with the boys would seem to be in order.
Sounds like you had a very busy but productive week! Hopefully you'll be able to relax and unwind over the weekend. :)
I know that eye tic well and I hate it! You have had quite the week. I hope you're able to get some downtime this weekend.
