Thursday thoughts

Image
Remember Amber, the little one my girlfriend adopted back in November ? I've posted a few updates since, and here are the most recent pics, just emailed to me and posted with permission.     She's growing into a beautiful young ladycat, though I hear she's full of beans and into everything. Hmm, reminds me of someone I know who shall remain nameless (but whose name begins with "N"). As for my two, the corner by the fence seemed to be of great interest yesterday after work. Probably one or more of the squirrels had been around. Nicki checking things out.       Derry half in shadow.   As for me, all's quiet at the moment, knock on wood. Work is work. We're all waiting to see what's going to happen with the new position in our sub-group--second round of interviews take place over the next couple of weeks. And a new person starts Monday in the other sub-group, a fill-in maternity leave position. At least it will be a male; t...

Wordless Wednesday with the boys

Image
Just a few pics snapped yesterday after work. Finally the snow in the back space is gone--there still was a patch yesterday AM, but it had disappeared by the time I got home. Now it's just peak mud season out there. BTW, no further squirrel nest-building out there, either. At least not yet! Comments are off, just enjoy the snapshots, and as always, enlarge for best viewing.  :-)              Peace .

We're all doing "easy" this Sunday

Image
In light of a freezing rain warning for our city, which never materialized, I opted to stay at home today and putter around instead of running the roads, as the old saying goes. Nicki and Derry certainly had no problem with having an "easy" Sunday! (Excuse the usual crappy indoor snapshots.)           Even I had a desperately-needed nap for a couple of hours. I also, finally , tackled my linen closet, bathroom cabinet, and under-sink storage, which took longer than I anticipated. I got rid of stuff, reorganized all the remaining items, and I think it will do for now. I'd like to have matching storage baskets, but whatever. (Found an awesome heavy fabric tote with rope handles at Dollarama yesterday, for $4. Should have bought more.) Foldable, filled with stuff and in the linen closet now. Nicki helping me resize pics and do this post. We hope everyone is having an "easy" Sunday.  :-) Peace .

Home wrecker

Not Nicki, though he probably first comes to mind when you see the blog title. Me. :-( I realized this afternoon, when I got home from work, that what I thought was trapped paper and debris behind the fence sheeting actually was a squirrel nest. With a nasty squirrel in residence. So I thought, be proactive, get rid of it before they start making babies.  I pulled about a third of it down, while fending off one of the grey squirrels, then took a break and snapped this pic. (Yes, there was more stuffed in there, half a large garbage bag more, on top of what's in the snapshot.) I got my rake and went back outside and went at it again, only to have a tiny, defenseless, hairless, baby squirrel drop out onto the ground. OMG, I'm a baby squirrel killer! I was almost sick, I felt so awful. The baby was still alive, so I ran and got an unworn pair of gloves, picked it up carefully and put it outside on the other side of the fence, in the corner between...

Wordless Wednesday: Skies and birthdays

Image
Last evening's sky was stunning and though I didn't get a view of the sun actually setting, I was able to get a few snapshots of the glorious colours.   Wonderful! As for birthdays, today is my step-dad's 86th birthday. I don't think any of us thought he'd made it to 85, let alone see 86. Below is an old pic from March 22, 2009, when Harry still was at home and still had (most of) his faculties. I wasn't there, the pic was taken by his daughter, I believe. Mom is taking him a little cake or cupcake today (he's in a nursing home), and then will have his daughter and son-in-law bring him to her apartment on Saturday for his favourite dinner. Happy birthday, Harry! Comments are off today, so it's a wordless day for you.  :-) Peace .

Tuesday...tongue?

Caught in the act yesterday afternoon. Could use a good caption! (I'm not clever enough to come up with one.) Click to enlarge for best viewing, as always.     Peace .

Track and Field

Image
I missed 2.5 days of work last week, with a bad head cold (completely congested). It's on the way out now, mostly only in my ears, and I'm thrilled I can breathe through my nose again. Yay! (It's the little things in life....) So I ran a couple of quick errands this morning, then got sidetracked with track and field events up at the park across from our "big" shopping centre.  I don't think the pics need an explanation. It's a little oasis in the midst of the busy west end of our city, and if I backed onto this "green" space, as many homes do, I'd be out there every day. (As always, click the pics to view larger.)                                  I hope everyone's having an equally "eventful" day.  :-D Peace .
