Tuesday Tabbies

Image
Just some recent pics of the boys, from the past couple of weeks. I could do a post about "the curse of the area rug," but that seems inconsequential given my previous post about Ricky and Baby. Besides, I've already vented to a friend about that! So here are my chubby...okay, one is obese...tabby boys, for a smile (I hope) on this Tuesday. Nicki doesn't look too pleased to be the focus of the camera's attention.       No one... no one ...can do a "poor me" face like a cat can.       BTW, I obviously didn't destroy the squirrel family when I took the nest down in March, because three young ones love to play on the fence in the evenings, scurrying between the sheeting and the wood of the fence and generally being silly, as all young ones are. I've seen one black and two greys chasing one another or perching on the fence, all lined up along the top. Oh, and while I think of it, does anyone know what this is, below? ...

"Baby"

Image
This is Baby, photos taken with permission.     I had headed downtown early this morning, to take a few pics of the high water levels at the park/marina, came across a homeless man named Ricky, with his cat, Baby. He found Baby abandoned in an apartment, along with other cats, though I didn't ask what happened to the others, or how long Baby had been with him. You can see that Baby is thin and is in pretty rough shape, but the man seemed to care for him a great deal. I asked if Baby had food and he said he had some dry but was out of canned, so I popped into the nearby Shoppers Drugmart and bought several days' worth of canned for him, along with some Temptations and some cat milk too, as treats. Along with that bike, Ricky had a trailer to pull behind it, so he's able to carry some items. I'm in the middle of reading "A Street Cat Named Bob," borrowed from the office kitchen book swap, and that's all I could think about, seeing Ricky and B...

Wordless Wednesday: "Whatchu lookin' at?"

Beats me, but something had the boys' attention yesterday evening! Maybe one of the squirrels. Comments are off. Happy wordless Wednesday! Peace .

"Animal Farm"

Image
Not related to the George Orwell novel! "Animal farm" as in all the critters Robin and I saw and snapped pics of last week, during my visit. (For the record, she took far better snapshots than I did!) This is what makes my heart sing, is my heart's desire, to be in a more rural setting and have the opportunity to traipse around, being with and snapping pics of all the non-human animals. Heaven on earth to me! (Note: This post is very picture-heavy, posted in chronological order. As always, click to enlarge for best viewing.) Behind Reid's Dairy in Belleville--the goats were back, as were the ducks and geese. This fellow kept looking for a way into the enclosure to rejoin his flock; it took a bit for him to realize he had to fly in. Robin and I kept retreating, but there was a goose family (mom, dad, one gosling) coming toward us, also outside the enclosure. We joked we were trapped! (You want to steer clear of geese, they can be very nasty, especially when ...
