My take on Halloween

Image
I saw this posted elsewhere yesterday and had to save it -- this is my take on Halloween...except for the boxed wine.  :-D Enjoy the day, have fun, stay safe...keep your pets safe! Peace . Comments are off.

The rear view

Image
Definitely not a view of anyone's butt (ha), but my usual look back at the week. There's little vibrant colour this fall, but a few trees and vines are showing their true colours. I was able to get out at lunch time last weekend and early in the week, while we still had lovely, warm weather. Along Bath Road on Sunday the 22nd, headed to Value Village.  Morning sky on Monday the 23rd.  Late-blooming roses from a lunch-time walk on Monday.  One of the few campus buildings with any colourful ivy left.  Waiting for the bus home. Miscellaneous snapshots from early in the week: St. Mary's tower One of the bed & breakfast inns close to campus has a lovely "secret garden", including this water feature.  Another B&B -- there are three within a stone's throw of each other.  The third B&B  A private home close to campus. I don't know who owns it, it's a mini-castle. :-)  St. James Anglican ...

The past couple of weeks

Image
The past couple of weeks weren't as fun or adventurous as the two days with Robin, but here's a run down just the same. This is Moose, a 4.5 month old St. Bernard. He belongs with the human, who was picking up junk two units down from me. Moose was...enthusiastic in his greeting. Translation: He jumped all over me, practically bowled me over.  A bit of grooming that didn't lead to a tussle...Derry was too lazy to bother. I've been seeing a balloon floating up each evening for a while now. Finally was able to grab a camera in time and snap a couple of pics. Turns out it's Carla's human flying it; he's attached it to a child's plastic fishing rod. (He's a bit of an odd duck, I can't put my finger on it. Not intellectually challenged per se; he owns the unit, drives a car, works. But something is quite different about him. Of course, I'm rather an odd duck in my own ways too!) Frontenac County Courthouse in the morning ...

Finishing up the staycation pics

Image
Before too many weeks pass, I'm going to finish with the pics I took on October 4th, visiting with Robin. After spending time at the abandoned cheese factory and barn, we kept driving north on county road 30, till we spied an unexpected turn off for a lovely river area. Turns out we stopped along part of the Trent River (I Googled yesterday, finally), in the Campbellford area.    I was struck by the black rocks, they made me think of cooled and hardened lava.  Neat impression in the stone. You can see on the Google satellite image, below, where we were. We had parked just off the turn and were at the shallow part, centre-ish in the frame. After that, it was on to more adventures! No, we didn't venture closer to this old barn, it was on someone's very lived-in property. Robin did stop at the side of the road, though, for the photo op. Along this road, below, we came across a home and farm with free items at the side of the road (Ro...
