Happy Easter Weekend!

Image
Happy Easter and happy spring...though I wish the weather were warm and spring-like! I scanned that cute image in from an Easter card a friend sent.  :-) I've been enjoying the day off, and have taken Monday as a vacation day (it's not a holiday for us, we get only Good Friday).  I was exceptionally productive today (no bus service, nothing open, no excuse--lol). My garage was filled with boxes from purchases I've made over the last 5 - 6 months, and though it took an hour and forty minutes, I got them all cut down to fit in my recycle bins. It'll take a while to get rid of it all, but the hard part is done. I also rounded up the bags of clothing and household stuff for donation and got them down into the tidied garage. I have other items ready for donation as well, though I'll keep them in a spare room until I arrange pick up, as I don't want them to get dirty (small pieces of furniture, small appliances, stuff like that).  I even rounded u...

Synchronized Swimming

Image
Goose synchronized swimming Two weekends ago I had spied a pair of swans nesting in some reeds off a major thoroughfare, then saw them again yesterday when I was on the bus, headed to an appointment. So I donned my thermal layers (minus 14 C windchill!) and walked over this morning, to get a few snapshots. This is the view, below, before zooming in. The swans are tiny white specs on a little spit of land in the middle of the image. At full zoom There were lots of geese around too (hence the first pic of the pair feeding, who were much closer to me), and even a pair of nesting geese with the swans, which I didn't see until I got home and downloaded the pics. I think you'd have to look at them at full size to see the geese on the left. In fact, there were three geese, the male, the female who stayed on the nest, and another with them (last year's child?) too. All but the female goose took to the water when I moved down to the water's edge, even though...

"I brake for crocuses"

Image
Happy happy for me: I saw these crocuses in bloom yesterday after work, while walking home. They were in a lovely sunny, sheltered, south-facing spot, and oh, they made me feel so good! Last week I'd seen some snowdrops: Poor things. LOL. They're hardy, they'll survive. As for the boys, here's Nicki yesterday afternoon, still looking for a way over the fence, after all these years. It's hard to tell, but he has his mouth open in the pic, meowing his fool head off.  :-) And Derry, well, he looks a bit like a fat jungle kitty, in the wasteland of dead foliage (and ice) that is the current state of our back space: Wishing everyone a lovely day and weekend! Wordless Wednesday with Mr. Brat

Nicki, get down!!! Comments are off for wordless Wednesday. Peace.

The boys did their Sunday "easy"

Image
We had a minus 15 Celsius windchill this morning (it'll be colder tonight and tomorrow!), so I went back to bed this morning. The boys came and snuggled with me, then lingered in bed after I got up for the second time. Later I found them downstairs on the couch, doing Easy Sunday Part 2. Part 3 followed later, for all of us. Don't tell Derry I posted this pic, below.  :-D I hope your Sunday was as relaxing and "easy". Peace.

Wordless Wednesday: More of the same!

Image
It's been snowing here all day, so I took a walk over to the adjoining building at lunch time, camera in hand. All indoors, no going outside, thanks. Snapshots taken through the (dirty) windows, and yes, it really was snowing that hard. (Click to enlarge and then scroll through.) I spied two dogs (with their humans in attendance), having a great time over in an athletic Field. I was at full zoom, through the window and the driving snow, so they just look like dark blurry blobs. However, you can tell they were having a lot of fun!  Back in our suite, below. As usual, I have comments off for "Wordless Wednesday". Peace.

This winter thing is getting really old, guys

Image
The view last Friday, waiting for the bus home.  The boys' view last Friday, after work!  What's a kitty to do but a bit of personal hygiene and have a nap?    Some kitties even skip the personal hygiene part, go straight for the nap. Saturday AM brought a great kitty TV show. (Tabbies, don't look!) The boys certainly were looking! Saturday afternoon they ventured outside. It was a streeetttccchhhh to the tiny bare spot!  Nicki had to stick a paw in the snow, unfortunately. More kitty TV on Saturday afternoon. Sunday brought more of the same:  The only thing to do, with winter still entrenched, is to go back to sleep! We're slated to get another 10 or so centimeters starting tonight and through Wednesday. Nothing like the storms blowing through the east coast, I realize, but still far more than any of us wants in mid-March. However, we've had the time change ("spring ahead"), so winter's ...
