Wishing everyone Joy and Light this Christmas and always. (All images courtesy of Pinterest.)  Thank you for your friendship and support through many ups and downs over the years, and especially for sticking with my blog even though I no longer have any fur babies. May you be blessed with good health first and foremost, may you be well in body, mind, and spirit. ❤️ Peace.  Comments are off.

A "mummy hug"

Image
My mom, Judy, would have been 85 today (December 19, 1940 - March 15, 2023).   Mom in 2017, I think. The ubiquitous cigarette and large glass of white wine!   When she'd had a bad day, she'd call me (she lived in Halifax) and say she needed a "Kimmy hug." She'd do the same with her friends and step-daughter as well, call and say she needed a [insert name] hug.   I have often wished for a "mummy hug" since she passed, even if only via phone, especially on more challenging/frustrating days.   An old film pic, scanned, probably from the late '80s or early '90s.   Last night I dreamed she and I were heading into the old Sears store that used to be in what was then the West End Shopping Centre in Halifax, when I lived and worked there. I was following behind (this is the dream, of course) and in typical Judy fashion, she was making a beeline for whatever she wanted. Mom never liked to putter around, she was always zip, zip, zip, get 'er done.   Wh...

Thankful Thursday (with a bit...a lot...of sarcasm)

Oh, yes, I'm "thankful" for winter. "Thankful" for our city's excellent sidewalk cleaning, you can see we're so pedestrian-friendly.     We had a messy snow/rain system move through yesterday, the results of which you can see above. I did go for an "EMT" (early morning trudge) yesterday, though, in spite of it, but did not go this morning. I did, however, pop down to the little nearby café for a tea latté and breakfast sandwich to go. If I'd realized how bad it was underfoot, I'd have stayed inside.   Oh, yes, how I just love winter! (Linda, if you're reading this, I'm being sarcastic in the extreme, because even though I try to make the best of it, I loathe winter with every fibre of my being. It feels like my soul/spirit shrivels up in winter, just waiting for warmth and new growth.)   Below: The partial view out my patio door yesterday afternoon. Gaahhhh! It's like January out there!      Now, as for the genuinely thank...

Walking in a winter wonderland (aka early early morning trudges through the snow)

Gaahhh, we have FAR too much snow, FAR too early for this time of year! We've been spoiled in recent years, with snow, melt, snow, melt. How much of this will melt in a week or two is debatable, given we have more of the white stuff in the forecast this week.   It snowed all Saturday and Sunday, the pics below are from Saturday morning, on the way to my acupuncture appointment:     The pics weren't out in the wilderness (ha), but taken in the park across from our main mall and down the hill from one of the libraries. It's a lovely bit of green space amidst the apartment buildings, condos, businesses, and general bustle.   This morning, having slept a bit longer than normal, I forced my sluggish body into winter layers and out into the minus gazillion temperature, for an "EMT" (early morning trudge) rather than an EMW*   *copyright Angel Madi's mom   As long as it's not windy, and I'm sufficiently bundled up, it's quite lovely to be out so early, ...
