Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 58

 

Good morning - It's time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge! Here is the deal: make a card with this layout and use the InLinkz button down at the end of my post to enter your card. On Thursday at 10 PM (Mountain Time), I'll randomly select one card to feature on my blog. So, as long as your card is linked by 10 PM Thursday, your card will be in the drawing. As you can tell, I took some artistic liberty with my own sketch this morning - I had it in my head that I was going to use these little butterflies, and well, the squares underneath were just too large, so I opted for circles underneath the butterflies.  And small ones at that, LOL!  The card is a 6.5" square, scored in half - so the card size is 6.5" x 3.25".  The colors come from this week's Color Throwdown - olive, brown, pink, and white.  Super cute!!

I'm using InLinkz instead of Mr. Linky, so I hope it works {crossing my fingers}.  I had trouble with Mr. Linky and apparently did lose all the entries listed last week.  I'm SO sorry about that.  So I won't be listing the winner for SSSC57 since I can't get back to all of them.

Good morning!  I'm so glad to see you back here at my blog in spite of yesterday's challenge - LOL!  It looks like you are loving it!  I have another challenge card for you today - I'm trying to catch up and keep up, so this one combines Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge {Old Olive, Night of Navy, Ballet Blue, Kraft, and Whisper White}, and Sweet Stop Sketch 44.  After I saw these amazing little flowers on Laura's blog, I had to make them right away - seems like if I don't make something I drool over as soon as possible, I forget all about it.  I chalk it up to my "mom of 3" brain.

Do you think my photos look blurry?  All of a sudden my photos look blurry on my blog, but not on my computer, so I don't know what the heck is up with Blogger.  GRRR!!!   Anyone else having this problem?

I can hear you all groaning out there - yes, this one is a bit of a challenge, but it's all part of the fun of it, right?  I think I am very close to getting voted off the island by the design team, LOL!  Out of a great challenge comes amazing creativity!   Now, I'm not saying my card is full of amazing creativity - LOL!  I almost cheated by just cutting out a 5" x 3.75" sheet of this striped paper, but instead I cut each little pattern out to make them all the same size.  You should know that I was singing circus music as I edited this little number; maybe because of the bow-tie and giant polka dots?  haha!  Since this will obviously be a little kid's card, I think it looks cute with all the polka dots and bright colors.  The set is It's a Party, one of the very first sets I ever bought 6 years ago - wow!

Grateful for You

Good morning!  It has been a LONG time since I've participated in a color challenge and it was just what I needed to make a card for you today.  This week's Color Throwdown is light green, rust, and burgundy - wow!  I can't honestly say that I have never put these 3 colors together - ever - but wow, they look amazing!

I picked this little leafy flower from PTI, but then I realized I don't have any rust or burgundy buttons to go with it, so I just stayed with white.  I really like the clean look it gives.

Lookie What I Did!!

Good morning!!  I'm just a tad excited this morning because I got this amazing stamp in the mail yesterday!  "What stamp is THAT amazing?", you ask?  Well, let me tell you!  Here's the story:
When we were setting up the booth at CHA last month we were looking through the Baker's Dozen card samples and Melissa Sauls had this really cute stamp on the back of her cards and I didn't!  Yes, I often want what other people have, it's just a sickness really.  Anyway... when I got home I was looking for a company that would take custom images and make them into stamps - I found RubberStamps.net and the process started.  I have a little logo I made for my Etsy shop and so I wanted a variation of this to be the image for my cards and LOOK -

 

Tee Hee!!!  I Lurve It!!  See, there's my little birdie :D

The bummer of it is, well - take a look...

 

Who the heck cut the rubber out and mounted this thing???  (Oh wow, that sounded really dirty...) Needless to say, it still stamps like a dream, so I'm cool with it.  Maybe...  haha!  Yes, I'm loving it - seriously!  Can you tell?

Center of Attention Product Spotlight - Impressabilities

I'm super excited to show you this month's Center of Attention product: Spellbinders Impressabilities!!  I absolutely love using embossing folders with my Cuttlebug, so when I had the chance to try out Impressabilities, I was stoked!

Impressabilities, by Spellbinders, are A2 size {4.25" x 5.5"} embossing templates and what is unique about them is they are made to be used in several different ways.  You can use them just as is and run it through a Cuttlebug, or Wizard and create beautiful dry embossed patterns on paper.  You can also use them to letterpress, stencil, or even cut the template and use it for embellishments.

For my card today, I used the die template as an embosser - this is the Paisley Impressabilities.  I love the deep, detailed images it created with just one pass through my Cuttlebug - it was very easy to use and fits a standard sized card.  You can see a detailed tutorial on using Impressabilities with the Wizard, here - however, I layered my Cuttlebug plates like this: starting from the bottom - A, B, 4 pieces of cardstock, embossing mat, cardstock to be embossed, Impressabilities die, B.

See how detailed the embossing is?  I love those crisp edges!

Blog Hop for Haiti

Welcome to Skipping Stones Design’s Blog Hop(e) for Haiti. If you just happened upon my blog today, you’ll want to go back to the beginning at Skipping Stones Design.  You should have come from Dawn Easton's blog.

As a company, we wanted to do something to give back to the people who have been so devastated by the Haitian Earthquake. So we thought what better way than to invite some of our favorite stampers to join us in this cause. Each card you see on the blog hop today will be auctioned on E-bay with all proceeds going to the Red Cross in support of the Haitian Relief Effort (please check the Skipping Stones Design Website for the link to the auction). 100% of the proceeds of the Ebay auction and $2.00 from every stamp set purchased from February 16 - 22 will be donated to the Red Cross. We know that we can make a difference.

When I first saw this set, Funny Bras Vol. 1, I instantly fell in love with it - the humor is so me!  I stamped the image on various papers from Stampin' Up!'s Cottage Wall dsp and paper pieced the image together.  I used white embossing powder for the sentiment and finished the card with some little buttons - and of course, lots and lots of scallops!

My next card is so vibrant and fun - so perfect for a birthday.  The set is Cupcake Cutie and sticking with my paper piecing theme, I used fun paper to make my cupcake.  I added several turquoise rhinestones along the bottom for some sparkly fun, oh la la!!!

Did you see the opening ceremonies of the Olympics?  I am in awe of the beauty of  British Columbia - the contrast of the green grasses against the blue sky, the crisp mountain peaks towering over the coastline, and the marvelous city skyline of Vancouver - WOW!  The blues and greens of spring are what inspired this card today - I have this little stamp that has never seen the light of ink in its entire existence, so I thought I'd give it a little love.

The image is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics and I sponged blue and green ink around the edges of the circle for grass and sky.  The flower centers have a little Diamond Glaze on them to give a little pop.

Sweet Little One

Don't fall over from shock or anything, but I'm actually posting a challenge card on the day the challenge posted!  What???  I Know!  Taylor is celebrating 100 sketches today and I wanted to jump right into the celebration.  I haven't made a baby card in a while, so I thought I'd try and start with some pastel Tea Party papers.  I always adore little elephants on baby cards, so I grabbed Elephants In Love and just inked up the larger elephant by masking the rest of the stamp with post it notes.  After I cut this little cutie out, he looked so lonely, so I added some Tiny Twinkles and I love the effect it gives - like he's giving himself a bath in bling, LOL!
 

The sentiment is from Beary Special - I love pairing up different stamp sets, the possibilities are endless!  I used lots of Nestabilities for this card and got a little scallop crazy, haha!  The sketch called for 3 little embellies on the side, but I only had 2 little green buttons left, so I left it as it is.

Good morning!  I have another sketch card for you, this time from The Sweet Stop: SSS42.  I'm using more paper from Sweet Pea - and of course, buttons and ribbon and Verve - oh my!  I can't help but pop these tulips over the edges of the paper and I needed a little something more on the card, so I added the 3 little buttons, although now as I look at it, the card seems a wee bit heavy on the left.  Oh well - it is what it is and I need to go to bed!  haha!

Spring Blossom Mojo

Nothing brings back my mojo like a fun sketch and a favorite stamp set, and not to mention fun new paper!  The sketch is Julee's MOJO125 and I instantly fell in love with it - the rounded edge is so unique and I loved the ribbon element.  I used my favorite tree from Trendy Trees as well as some super fab paper, Sweet Pea and I just got my satin ribbon share in the mail from Nancy, so I had to use that too, yay!!!  I stamped the tree top in Pretty In Pink ink and then used Rose Red and Taken With Teal Stampin' Write markers to accent other little leaves to give it the illusion the tree is blooming.  Soooo ready for spring, it's not even funny!

Today is my dear sweet little boy's 4th birthday and we're celebrating by watching the Superbowl - haha!  Don't worry, we're still having cake and presents today, but the big party will be next Sunday - Valentine's Day.  Sweet little boy!!  Love him!  So what kind of card do you make a 4-year-old?  Well, the kind you can recycle the bits and pieces, that's what!  Yes, after he opens my card and tosses it aside to rip open the much anticipated present that awaits him, I'll be ripping those buttons off to use again on another card.  haha!

Good morning sunshine!  You have NO idea how excited I am to have finally finished a MOJO card on time!!  This week's sketch was difficult for me - I'm not sure why exactly, but I kept looking at it and looking at it, bound and determined to conquer this one!  I'm totally digging the color combo - Summer Sun and Cameo Coral - yes, I know it's kind of a crazy duo, but I'm needing some summer sun in my frigid winter days right now.  I think the black makes everything pop a little bit more as well.

My little owl card gets to be up first here this morning - Aren't they so sweet?  I love how they are snuggling inside their little tree.  Owl always love you - how cute is that??  No paper piecing today - I colored the image in with Copics and had to use some ribbon, right??

Turquoise and red are so much fun together, don't you think?  I love the bright contrast and these sweet little whales are too cute for words!  The sentiment is part of Animal Love Sentiments and I think it would be perfect for a little baby shower too, don't you think?  Adorable!!  The sketch is from Julee's MOJO123.

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek - Day 2

Welcome back to day two of sneak peeks for Taylored Expressions!  One of the hottest sellers in the TE booth at the Super Show was the new line of Stamps A la Carte! I am completely in L-O-V-E with these little turtles.  They remind me of the Slowski's - you know, from those cable commercials??  Plus, how adorable is that sentiment!?  This is quite possibly the best Valentine's card for a man I've ever made - how lucky is my man??  hahaha! The turtles are paper pieced and the image panel is sponged with So Saffron ink around the edges.

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek - Day 1

Good morning! It's time for another round of fantastic new stamp sets from Taylored Expressions and TE continues to grow and get better and better! My first card features Tena and the new set, Bakery Business - this sentiment just cracks me up!  I think I've been telling myself "I'll go to the gym starting tomorrow" for the last 6 months! haha!   I stamped Tena in  Memento Rich Cocoa ink and then colored her with Copics and sponged the edges of the circle with Cameo Coral ink.  The little cupcake above the sentiment was so much fun to make!  I added some Liquid Applique for the frosting as well as a red rhinestone cherry - both of which are included in the Bakery Sampler this month.  The Bakery Sampler includes:

My next card combines the window display from Window Shopping as well as images from Bakery Business - so much fun!!  I paper pieced the awning and popped it up with dimensional tape to give it a little 3D pop.  I can't wait to use these little window display images for invitations and birthday cards and you'll definitely want to swing by to see what the rest of the Baker's Dozen have displayed in their bakery as well!
