There is one thing I've noticed about riding the public bus. DO NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT. It is an unspoken rule. If people find you looking at them, they stare back at you in almost a challenging glare. Which is why it is important to always sit in a forward facing seat. By doing this, all you see is the back of a person's head and thus insuring yourself no eye contact will be made. But if you sit in a sideways facing seat, the bus trip is bound to be awkward. You can't even stare past the person out the window without you looking like you're staring straight at the person across from you. The solution to this is to bring a book and hide your face.
I broke the staring rule yesterday though. I couldn't help it when the person across from me had an iguana on his head. I couldn't help but stare further and see that the iguana was on a shoestring leash attached to a dog collar looking thing around the guys neck. The dog also had a chain running from the guys neck into his pocket in case anyone wanted to walk him as well. The awkward starer that i am, the guy noticed and looked at me. So i gave him a weak smile and quickly looked away. But I spent the whole 30minute ride stealing glances. Unfortunately i was not able to secretly take a picture of him with my phone. I can't wait to ride today.
