Boxed Pouch and Some Henna Work

Happy Humpday! Today feels like Spring, sunny and I could hear the birds chirping in my backyard. Come tomorrow, it will be rainy and cold again which is always nice because we need the rain here in So. Cal.
I have always wanted to make a boxed pouch so when my girls were organizing my scraps I thought it would be nice to pull a couple of the larger scrap pieces to make one. I was looking through some tutorials and what I found had unfinished seams on the interior of the pouch and zig zagged/overlocked to keep the raw edges from fraying. I don't like unfinished seams so I set out to make one with the seams all finished like a bag.

Never Forget

Hello Monday!!!

Hello There and Happy Monday!!! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I went to watch Planes and Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters. I fell asleep through most of Planes, not because it wasn't good. I was just really tired from running around and lack of sleep. Percy Jackson was great, but if you ready the book as I have, it's been altered quite a bit from the book. Still a good movie.
Since we've been having a heat wave and I've been trying to get my Memory Lane quilt finished it was quite a challenge. If I was able to get up really early in the morning then I would sit down and quilt for a few minutes before the heat gets to me. Sometimes I would stay up late to get some more quilting done.

What's Up Wed.

I was doing a photo shoot for some crafty items and this little one came out and just laid nearby watching me. We think this kitten is a female. They've grown quite a bit since I started feeding the mama cat. Let's just say this family of cats shall remain nameless because I can't handle having more pets. It's very hard when we lose them to illness or old age. The last one that passed away was really tough on me so no more new kitties as pets. I enjoy watching these kitties play in our backyard but that's it. We make sure they always have food, but when the food is all gone, they would all sit right next to our side door and wait. We know they want food whenever that happens. Rarely happens, but once in a while rushing out the door early in the morning, somebody forgets to put food out.

Well, after I finished my photo shoot, I pointed my camera at this little one and that was it. She started posing for me. Look at that face. So cute!

 Then she turned sideways.

 Looking at me again.

She started stretching and moved into this curved position.

Now I think she might be saying, aren't you done yet?

It's been really hot here. There's been no machine quilting or sewing of any kind going on. Hopefully it will cool down soon.

Pouch Swap

Happy Friday!!! It's going to be a nice and relaxing weekend for us here. We are trying to squeeze in what's left of Summer before our kids go back to school.
Talking about back to school, I am going to have some time on my hand so I was wondering if anyone would be up for a pouch swap? I was really wanting to join in on a recent pouch swap but the spaces got filled up really quick and I haven't heard when another round would open up. I would love to host one if there's enough interest. These are some that I've made.

Basically, you would be assigned a partner. This will not be a secret swap, you will know who your partner is so you can coordinate with each other your preferences. The deadline would be October so you'll have plenty of time. Last is to include some goodies to go along with your pouch. It could be anything your partner might like, i.e. your local treats, sewing goodies.

While I Was Away....

Lots of things have happened but how about I just let you know some fun things I did and skip over the bad ones? I created a signature for my blog post. It's do-able for now.

Remember these games? I just felt like playing these games so that's what I did. I had to unlock a couple of games for my husband and son because they couldn't do it. It was fun to go down memory lane. BTW...we do have other current gaming systems. Can't get rid of the playstation 2 or we wouldn't be able to play these games ; -D

Happy Friday!

It's been a busy but wonderful day. Our girls went to the prom that our church held. They all look so beautiful.
Since I can't cut fabric to sew at the moment, I thought I would share this picture of a baby bird that was in our back yard.
Every year there's a bird that comes to build their nest on the side of our house. This is one of the babies. The day after I took this picture, hubby said he saw them flying around with their mom. Well, they're off on their own now.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Reading and CTTY

I've been doing a bit of reading. I have been sewing too but it's for the Christmas Through the Year post so I can't share yet. Talking about Christmas Through the Year, how are you doing with your projects? The month is half way over. I can't wait to see your projects. I will be putting the linky tool up on the last day of each month just as Darlene did.

Here's the book I'm reading. I know Christmas is over but I love a good book anytime of the year.

Blog Truncating

I am going to be truncating my posts from now on. I hope you'll all stay with me through this change. I know that there are those out there that steals other peoples posts, ideas you name, but I found out today from Karen over at Sew Many Ways that there are computer robots out there that are programmed to just take (steal) your whole post and use it on their site for profit, so basically they are profitting from your hardwork. I love to share my creativity with you and so to prevent theft I am going to have to truncate all my posts. You just need to click one extra click where it says "Read More" and it will take you to the whole post.

Have a great weekend:-)

WIP

It's been a bit difficult trying to get this quilt done. I had to take a little break to squeeze in time to help hubby among other projects. I got a lot of sewing done for the blocks. Now all I need to do is sew the blocks together. I don't think I am going to put a border on this quilt. Hopefully I'll be able to get the whole quilt done soon.

I didn't get to take all the pictures of hubby's project, but here are some. This is the mess we created by making the patterns for the cushions and cutting out the fabrics.

These are some of the small cushions I needed to recover. The fabrics are really old and these cushions were the only thing that still looks decent.

Here are a couple of the big seats we finished. The fabrics are much prettier than the original.

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year's Eve!!!

We're just going to hang out at home this New Year's Eve. We usually go out to dinner but we're going to cook at home instead. This whole year with all it's challenges has taught me to learn to relax and take it easy and I love it. It's so nice not having to rush around all the time and spending time doing things I love and especially hanging out with my family. We've had our ups and downs this year but through it all the Lord has blessed us with so much.

May you have a joyful and blessed New Year!

Holiday Inspirations

When we were in Valley Center, we were browsing through a gift shop. They have cute holiday decorations all over the shop. It's always jam packed with people on the weekends, but I manage to take a few pictures. Today I have some Thanksgiving pictures to share with you. I love all the fall decorations in this shop. Ok, I didn't buy anything either even though alot of the items on display are cute. I wouldn't know where to display them.
