Next up for Music Obsessions for the Taiwanese singers is Richie Jen, a singer and actor. He popped up on my radar when he acted in Fly Me to Polaris in 1999. However, much more than an actor, he is a great singer. One that does define a Taiwanese singer as he actually sings in Taiwanese dialect every now and then.

After completing his education in Taiwan and learning to play the guitar at a music instrument store, Richie Jen signed and released his first album in 1990. After two more albums, he was enlisted in the military to return in 1996 and joined Rock Records and later in the year released his breakthrough album Too Softhearted which solidified his fame in both Taiwan and China.
