Today at the New York International Auto Show, we made the most ambitious product commitment in Hyundai Motor Company's history for North America.
We began by celebrating two milestones. Hyundai Motor America achieved its best first-quarter sales in company history with 205,388 total sales, up 1 percent year over year. And the IONIQ 6 N was named World Performance Car of the Year by the World Car Awards jury, a recognition that belongs to every person on our engineering and design team who built it.
Then we unveiled the Hyundai Boulder Concept, a design preview of our first-ever body-on-frame vehicle, a midsize pickup truck arriving by 2030. Designed in Southern California. Developed for America. Built in America. Using steel we will produce right here in the United States. Body-on-frame trucks are the backbone of American work and adventure, and Hyundai is entering that segment with everything we have.
The Boulder is one of 36 new Hyundai vehicles coming to North America by 2030. And when you add the 22 new Genesis vehicles we also announced today, Hyundai Motor Company will bring a total of 58 new or significantly enhanced vehicles to North America by 2030.
58 vehicles. North America. By 2030.
New nameplates. New segments. New powertrains, including Extended Range EVs with over 600 miles of range. N performance models. XRT adventure trims. And now, body-on-frame trucks. We are not managing our portfolio. We are expanding it.
Thank you to our customers, our dealers, and the teams around the world who made today possible. The best is still ahead.
It’s a great time to be with Hyundai!
