Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Frances Pekins the woman who brought us the weekend.

- Did Bernie Sanders really just say that Elon Musk is right and that cuts are needed? Still say that if any federal department fails an audit they should have their budget cut but that amount since those funds obviously aren't important enough for them to keep track of.

- The debanking of America.. A bank account is a requirement for many government departments and utilities so this can be a political cudgel.

- Poet justice for Jay Bhattacharyya. One of my favorites of Trump's picks.

- Captain Ed Freeman RIP. Where do we find such men?

- Bernie Sanders now backs equality (opportunity) over equity (outcome). Interesting.

- Arrest warrant issued for Bill Gates in Philippines. Two questions after reading this - is this serious or satire? Secondly - the Philippines must have an extradition treaty with the US as a protectorate right?

- Wow - didn't know this. Johnny Cash was the first American to learn of Joseph Stalin's death.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Remembering  Anthony Bourdain

- Today's must read is Darryl Cooper (Martyr Made) explaining his viral Twitter thread that was read on air by Tucker Carlson and referenced at CPAC by President Trump. Interesting to note that it appeared on Glenn Greenwald's Substack. To quote a lyric, "There's something happening here, what it is is not exactly clear."

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- 3 unions that endorsed Biden seem like they're already regretting it. Perhaps these unions should vote for new leadership - that is if they think their union voting is more reliable than what we saw in November.

 - It was ever thus

- This was perhaps my favorite Bernie meme

- 12 Fucking Rules for Success

- Introducing Wokeyleaks. Good stuff! I hope this becomes a regular thing.

This is awesome!

- The world needs a real investigation into the origins of Covid-19. Agree 100%. But I also know that a real investigation will never happen because China will not allow it.

Morgan Housel - Two Worlds: So much prosperity. So much skepticism. Interesting post with many great insights. This one really caught my attention: "Adjusted for inflation, the two stimulus packages passed in the last nine months are roughly equal to what we spent fighting World War II over four years." Wow!

- Interesting things are happening in Russia. Went with "interesting" because "scary" seemed too much.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Keep seeing that Elizabeth Warren came in third in her "home state." Let's be clear - Warren is not from Massachusetts. She's a carpetbagging Harvard professor... If science showed that one of the side effects of the corona virus was penis enlargement - what percentage of men do you think would be willing to purposefully risk infection?... I think a one-man show of Hemingway's Old Man and the Sea starring Erik Estrada would be so bad its good in a Springtime for Hitler type way... "In America, the young are always ready to give to those who are older than themselves the full benefits of their inexperience." Oscar Wilde in 1887 explaining Bernie Sanders popularity with the American youth of 2020... Just a reminder - we know exactly who President Obama picked each year in his NCAA March Madness pools we still don't know where he was the night our embassy in Benghazi was attacked...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Still leading the bandwagon that Tom Brady will be resigning with the Patriots and that all of the talk of him going elsewhere is just media trying to get some attention. One of the reasons I feel comfortable about it was Brady's post on the loss of Kobe Bryant and the reinforcement of what's important. Kobe Bryant only played for one team and so will Tom Brady... Analysis - True!... Tactical Empathy would be a good name for a band of divorced guys who do nothing but cover soft rock love songs while trying to meet women... Joe Coulombe, the founder of Trader Joe's has passed away aged 89... "It is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness." - Seneca... The tyranny of the "T" - the "t" in the word "depot" is silent but it is not silent in the word "despot." Not sure what to do with that thought but wanted to share it anyway...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

I bet Joe Rogan gets at least a good five minutes of material for his next stand-up special from the ridiculous "controversy" of him "endorsing" Bernie Sanders. Can't wait I'm sure it will be great stuff... Put me in the camp that thinks the coronavirus flu should be know as Xi's Disease going forward. Not the Kung Flu... Something tells me there's no way the movie Silver Streak could get made today. As great as Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor were together this scene just does not get made today... It is truly amazing that Bill Belichick has now been the coach of the New England Patriots for 20-years. What he's accomplished in that time is otherworldly... "We suffer from knowing the numbers." A quote from Sam Zell heard in his recent Tim Ferriss podcast. The quote in context really resonated with me... I'm on the waiting list for one of these bad boys...  Haven't watched a single minute of the Impeachment hearings and I'm a better person for it...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Earlier this week I listened to the Joe Rogan podcast with guest former CIA Operative Mike Baker. This is the episode where Joe's "endorsement" of Bernie Sanders occurred. The problem is if you listen to the episode Joe clearly said his first choice as a candidate was Tulsi Gabbard... Whoever runs the Wendy's Twitter page should get a raise... Joe Rogan also admits that in 2016 he voted for Gary Johnson (full disclosure so did I). How did Joe's "endorsement" work for Gary Johnson? Thinking the Bernie "endorsement" probably will have the same impact mostly because Joe Rogan's audience is mainly made up of people who think for themselves...  50 years of failed "eco-pocalyptic" predictions. I keep thinking "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me." What's the saying for fool me 50 times?...  This took me a second... Jon Lester has averaged a 15-8 record in Chicago since being traded away from the Red Sox. Forcing Jon Lester out was when the current ownership started appearing unlikable to many Boston fans....  Oh an Jon Lester has a great sense of humor...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

15-years ago the New York Times actually had the headline "Can Angelina Jolie Really Save the World?" And it was in the business section! Just in case you were wondering if the NYT giving up on being a serious news organization was a new thing... This is the sort of thing that makes you believe peace in the Middle East is actually possible... Who knew? Richard Nixon and Otis Nixon shared the same birthday... A Christopher Hitchens quote that seems very relevant to the Impeachment hearings, "That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence"...  A racial crisis may materialize in two years for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Both steroids tainted Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens have two years of eligibility left to be elected to the Hall. If the white Clemens gets somehow elected at the last minute while the black Barry Bonds does not then the cries of "Racism!" will be loud and clear. And probably not wrong...  If the DNC really wanted to stick it to Bernie Sanders they could insure that someone at the next Democratic Debate asks Bernie if he's elected would he make his wife Secretary of Education...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Keep waiting for one of the Democrats running for President to have a Dukakis in the tank moment. You know its coming... But I guess a Socialist choosing to be filmed in front of empty grocery shelves will have to do for now... Hollywood legend Robert Evans passes away aged 89. I really enjoyed the bio-documentary about Evans The Kid Stays in the Picture... "Practiced execution become game results."- Mike Lombardi... I laughed too hard at this (especially enjoyed the guy's facial expressions)... What comes next? Another MLB pitcher getting to 300 wins or another NFL coach getting to 300 wins?... The embarrassing handling of the death of ISIS leader al-Baghdadi by the Washington Post and others reminds me of the time the Obama campaign actually took contributions from "Osama bin Laden" - twice!...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Maybe Obama bought a $15 million house on Martha's Vineyard (a place basically at sea level) because he has the super power of being able to stop the oceans from rising. Or maybe he knows that dire global warming threats are a scam... I think electric motorcycles are cool but part of me wonders "What's the point?" Motorcycles already get great gas mileage and electric motorcycles are so quiet as to be potentially dangerous. Many people drill holes in their cycle's muffler to make them louder and so easier for motorists to recognize that they are sharing the road. Electric motorcycles may be so quiet as to be practically invisible... Not that people needed another reason to hate Boston sports but the $15 million home the Obamas are buying belongs to Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck... Who knew - there really was a Crash Davis - but he wasn't a catcher... "If you accomplish something good with hard work, the labor passes quickly; but the good endures; if you do something shameful in pursuit of pleasure, the pleasure passes quickly, but the shame endures." - Gaius Musonius Rufus... Warrick Dunn is the man!... Just saying but at his age this is probably Bernie Sanders last chance at running for President. If the DNC screws him over to tilt the field towards Biden or Harris - what's the chances Bernie runs as a Third Party Candidate? Something to consider...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

If President Trump wanted to troll Bernie Sanders he should announce that all employees of his re-election campaign will be paid a minimum of $15 per hour. His campaign coffers should be able to afford that. He could say that he still does not approve of the $15 minimum wage but that he just wants to do right by his people (zing)... 31% of the nation's households do not have access to Internet speeds the FCC classifies as broadband (that's 100 million people). This is a subject that is very dear to my heart and I problem I strive to remedy...  On the flip side that $15 minimum wage for the Trump Campaign could be the death knell for a few of the 1% Democratic candidates like Beto an DeBlasio who cannot afford to pay that rate. They would be placed in a spot where they couldn't not pay that $15 to their employees but they also couldn't cover the payroll expense either. Not sure if losing these bottom candidates and the sniping they'll bring among themselves would be worth the trolling of Bernie... Scott Adams shows you how to be a better writer... "Mouth sailing" would be a good synonym for "babbling". For example, "Stop mouth sailing and get to your point"...   The Patriots should sign Tacko Fall as a defensive specialist. Can you imagine a kicker trying to get the ball over his giant outstretched arms on every extra point and field goal attempt? Worth a shot... Pretty cool idea that never caught on...
