Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Kentucky Ford battery factory to shutter at cost of 1,600 jobs. Anyone paying attention could tell you the EV market was soft at best and that government subsidiaries were going away. Still something needs to be done here to help these workers.

- Yet that's their argument.

- From the archives: When the Catholic Church did not want to suffer a cat to live.

- MAC to add Sacramento State as football only member.

Quotes for Today

Some quotes I hope may resonate with you.

"Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back everything is different." - C.S. Lewis

"My wife was afraid of the dark - then she saw me naked and now she's afraid of the light." - Rodney Dangerfield

"The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly." - Abraham Lincoln

"I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them cats." - Eckhart Tolle

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

"Executive function" is defined as "a set of cognitive functions necessary for the cognitive control of behavior, selecting and successfully monitoring behaviors that facilitate the attainment of chosen goals." The more I watch Joe Biden give speeches the more I wonder how much executive function we actually have in the Executive Branch of the government... Good writing advice... So let me get this straight - 8 State Senators from Texas fled the state in order to avoid voting on the Voter ID Bill in the state but not enough Democrat State Senators fled to prevent a quorum and the Bill passed despite the well covered party plane ride of the  8 State Senators. Are these folks getting their political strategy from Animal House?... Tina Louise is the only surviving cast member from Gilligan's Island so that means that if you still prefer Mary Ann over Ginger - you are some sort of ghoul... Would love if some reporter asked Joe Biden what he thought of the movie CATS just to watch his response. Pretty sure he wouldn't know how to react...

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Morgan Housel - Best Story Wins

- Christopher Walken in a  live-action version of Puss in Boots. This was a real thing

- Spacehey a "reincarnation" of MySpace and a "competitor" to Facebook. Wouldn't be surprised if things like Spacehey become more numerous and popular. Like upgraded message board communities without the exploitative big-brotherism of  Facebook.

-There should be a movie about Dick Tuck. It could end (or begin) with the Watergate break-in.

- "Thou Shalt Not Suffer a Cat to Live." The Catholic Church's forgotten war on cats. (But what about Christopher Walken as a cat?)

Top 5 - People and Things that Pollute My Twitter Feed

I use Twitter to jot down miscellaneous thoughts and observations but more importantly to get my news - especially about sports and science. There are a significant number of Tweets about certain people and subjects that are just continual contaminants to my time and reading enjoyment. Here are my Top 5 people and things that pollute my Twitter feed:

1. The Kardashians - I couldn't tell one of these spoiled sluts from another. They are like the herpes of Twitter in that there keeps being outbreaks of them polluting my Twitter feed.

2A. Donald Trump - the spelling adverse sayer of outrageous things. I can't wait for this election to be over.

2B. Hillary Clinton - the corrupt liar who lies. Can't believe one of these two is going to be President.

4. Dr. Pimple Popper - no I most certainly do not want to see a video of the latest gross thing she's had to pop. Literally disgusting.

5. Cats - there I said it! I guess I am more of a dog person and I also deduct 20 points from my estimate of a person's IQ any time "Caturday" is mentioned. It's not cute - it is stupid.

Just missing the list - Colin Kaepernick, Leana Dunham, Anthony Weiner and Amy Schumer.
