Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Dan Wetzel: NCAA tournament expansion is bad, but it's happening.

- From the archives: The history of A1 sauce.

- Some interesting WW II history.

- Charlie Baker: Congress must secure the future of college sports. After watching the blatant money grab of playoffs expansion in basketball and football - I don't think the NCAA is in the position to ask for anything from the public.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Theory I've heard a few times now - Governor Charlie Baker is waiting to fully open up Massachusetts until after Saint Patrick's Day because he doesn't want to risk drunken idiot super spreader events. My theory is Charlie Baker is waiting to open up the State because he doesn't own testicles... Andrew Cuomo's Covid-19 policies of putting infected people in nursing homes may have killed 5-times or more people than the number who died in the Twin Towers on September 11th. How is this not a bigger scandal?... For all the angst on the Left about orange man bad Donald Trump - you never hear anyone pining for Hillary Clinton do you? No "Hillary would have done this" or "Hillary would have done that." Isn't that weird? Or very telling?... Phrase of the day, "Drinking with Godot" - drinking while waiting for friends who may or may not arrive... Do you remember back in July when Andrew Cuomo said, "We now have people coming to New York, fleeing other states because it's the 'safe' state." Do you remember that? I do...

Flotsam and Jetsam

 Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Massachusetts Republican Governor Charlie Baker says he won't be voting for Trump. If Baker was up for re-election in November I can guarantee you he'd receive fewer votes than Trump in Mass. Nobody is happy with the way Baker has mishandled the lockdowns. Nobody...  My prediction that 2021 will be known as the Year of Small Government is starting to come true... "The happy man is one who is freed from both fear and desire because of the gift of reason." - Seneca... Scenic Route 108 between Stow Mountain and Smuggler's Notch in Vermont on a sunny day during peak foliage is one of the best drives in the country... Interesting long read about a man who called all the phone numbers in Jeffrey Epstein's black book. Thankfully the reporter purposefully didn't call any of his known victims or go into detail about Epstein's (who didn't kill himself) crimes. (HT to Execupundit for the link)...

Flotsam and Jetsam

 Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

There's no election for the Governor in Massachusetts this November (next election in 2022) but if there were I think President Trump would receive more votes than Governor Charlie Baker. Many are unhappy with Baker's handling of the shutdown... Learned a new word yesterday "Akrasia." It is a Greek word that translates to "weakness of will" but in practice means to know what should be done but still not doing it. I like that... "Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, or makes you happy." - Robert Tew... Cool - an epithelial cell as seen through a powerful microscope... Part of me wonders if Mark Cuban has been so out front in the "Black Lives Matter" and social justice push in part as a way to clean away all those #MeToo complaints that the Dallas Mavericks operated a toxic environment.  Is it cynical to think this is a bit like Harvey Weinstein saying he would double his efforts against the NRA?... Interesting look at Tesla's unique business model and why it is so key to the success of the company...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Seems unfair that people remember Wally Pipp as the man who was replaced by Lou Gehrig but hardly anyone remembers Babe Dahlgren who was the man who replaced Lou Gehrig... When it comes to politics I second this viewpoint 100%. As a reminder I am a registered Independent who tries to see things as they are not view things on how they'll help my Party or candidate... When I feel a little down or depressed - I picture Bill Belichick dancing to Dee-Lite's Groove is In the Heart. And I am made happy... I'm an awful person because if I ever did see Joe Scarborough out and about I'd probably yell "Murderer!" at him just for a laugh. Has nothing to do with politics just my strange sense of humor... Columnist Howie Carr has given Massachusetts Republican Governor Charlie Baker the nickname "Tall Deval" - that's going to stick... One of the bad things about living alone is there's nobody to blame but yourself if you happen to run out of toilet paper... If kids are forced to wear face masks at Disney World can you imagine how many will go flying off on Space Mountain and the other roller coasters? Could those masks get lodged into the tracks and become hazards? What about the water rides? Do you have to wear masks on those and then have the kid wear the soaking wet mask for the rest of the day? Wearing masks in this country is not going to last...
