Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Democrats control of the House is increasingly fragile. And it is true that the President's party normally loses ground in midterm elections. (HT Newmark's Door)

- I'm amused that this this may be the new look of protest.

- Fascinating discussion - Peter Thiel and The Nixon Seminar (here's the transcript if you prefer to read the exchanges). Going to listen to this seminar more than once.

- MLB anti-trust exemption may be coming to an end because of moving the All-Star game. Good! The owners will be best pleased with Rob Manfred when that happens.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- The great undoing continues. History will not be kind to Obama's foreign policy choices.

- The Zombie Tit Menace. As an aside Zombie Tits would be a great name for a post-menopausal Spice Girls cover band.

- Lefsetz on Springsteen on Broadway. I tried watching but couldn't make it to the end. I used to be a super fan but no more. This show was like a more upbeat Nebraska and I really did not like the album Nebraska.

- I will never think of Nietzsche the same (you fucking pussy).

- The compelling case for greater economic freedom

- I really like Dan Crenshaw

- I just love the words "vacation cheese". I think it should also be slang for spending money you've saved for when you go away.

A Democrat Takes a Step Back to Take an Honest Look at Trump

A very well written honest look at President Trump's foreign policy by a Democrat.

I agree that the smugness of the media is a problem which helps neither the Democrats or the media. They look like are clueless narcissists.

Not sure if I'd call President Trump a 21st Century Bismark but the author does pinpoint the most salient point. Trump gets results because that's what he cares about. Results. He'll take a hard line with the Canadians if it means getting results just as he'll coddle dictators like North Korea's Kim Jong-un for the same reason.

Interesting article that's worth your time.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Interesting - foreign interests have spent over $534 million in lobbying efforts in the US since 2017. Not all of it is nefarious seeing how Tourism Ireland is the 3rd largest spending entity. China specifically targeting industries in "Red States" with tariffs and mid-term elections coming - now that's nefarious.

- Even with the apostrophe - still don't think I'm eating here

- Cool - the first dunk contest in 1976 featuring Dr. J vs David Thompson. Things have certainly changed in pro basketball in the decades since.

Watch an AI robot take all the fun out of Where's Waldo. If they ever train AI to find the G-spot men are finished!

- This is so awesome!

- This is also awesome!

- History will not be kind to the Mueller Investigation

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Tom Brady and the Patriots are 3-0 in the playoffs versus the top regular season defense. In those games the Pats average 31 points. The Broncos were the top regular season defense this season.... Jamie Foxx is the man (but what about the un-named off work EMT who was even more important to the successful rescue?)... Come on - just one taste... I think it is beyond hypocritical for any state that participates in a lottery to ban people from playing daily fantasy sports... Heh heh... Meat Slurry would be a good name for a band. Or for a companion entree to Golden Corral's Chocolate Waterfall... Perspective - if you had a minute of silence for each person killed in the Holocaust you would have to be silent for eleven and a half years... Add Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado River to the places I want to visit... How great would it be if someone replaced Stephen Hawking's computer voice with the voice of Emo Phillips?... President Obama's foreign policy in a nutshell - he attended the funeral of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah but skipped the funeral of Britain's Margaret Thatcher...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Did not watch the GOP debate last night. I have no plans to watch any debates because it doesn't really matter and I have better things to do with my time... Nicely done LeBron. Nicely done... In the end the GOP candidate will be either Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz. I'm OK with either choice... Last night's debate was supposed to be on foreign policy. How come the media so eager to ask the GOP candidates questions on foreign policy are so silent on the failures of the current administration?.... My guess is that either Ben Carson or Carly Fiorina will be the choice for VP. I'm OK with either of those choices too... The sad reality of social media fame. I think you do things like this because you want to and enjoy it not because you want to get rich or famous. For instance I seek neither fame nor fortune via this blog (I make zero from this site). I just like writing down my thoughts to make more room for the voices in my head that are screaming, SCREAMING to be heard... This seems like a very common sense proposal by Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee... Holiday tip - as a joke when you go to a friend's home for a Christmas party replace the can of air freshener in the bathroom with a can of Raid. Your hostess will love you for it... Our allies the Saudis...
