Happy Valentine's Day to You and Your Lov-ahhh

Linly Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- The Jokes Liberals Used to Make. Proof of the facts that celebrities should never read the comments and if you try to go woke there's no lengths you can go to please some people.

- I want to take this class.

- The utility of math. Hope this link works. Fan of math (not very good at it but wanting to be better).

- Argument that DOGE is good but not good enough. I argue that DOGE is a great start. A good plan executed today is always better than a perfect plan executed sometime in the future.

Van Gogh Down By a River

I may not know great art - but I know what I like.

It's a Mediaopoly

Only aired once on SNL in 1998. Still applies today but now it's big tech companies pulling the strings.

Keith Olbermann

Keith Olbermann's Twitter account has been suspended. I still maintain that the wind was taken out of this pompous windbag back when left-leaning SNL made fun of him. How anyone still takes him seriously is beyond me.

SNL on Inflation

Dan Ackroyd as Jimmy Carter with his novel solution to inflation.

Back when SNL was funny and would takes shots at both sides of the aisle. Do you think the SNL of today would tackle Biden's inflation (or Alec Baldwin's killing spree for that matter).

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Why can't Type II Diabetics sue Kellogg's for making Pop Tarts and McDonalds for Super-sized sodas the way lung cancer patients sued the tobacco companies? Would it surprise anyone if there were class action lawsuits down the line?... Vermont making billboards illegal really adds to the aesthetic of the state. Next they should outlaw just randomly leaving old tires on every other street. That would be nice... Was a little surprised at the news Elon Musk would be hosting SNL and "what's in it for him" is a valid question. I guess it's a cool thing billionaire geniuses get to do. I think if Tony Stark was a real life character he's host SNL too... Not sure where he'll end up but I find myself pulling for Mac Jones. Heard that he comes from a tennis background and that makes me think of Drew Brees who at one point was one of the top amateurs in the country and who was a training partner to Andre Agassi. Brees was picked 32nd in 2001 and he turned out pretty good...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

In the old days when SNL was funny it would almost be guaranteed that there would be a spoof of the Springsteen / Jeep commercial. I'd be surprised if they went there today...  Heh heh - NFL 2021 Bad Lip Reading... Not sure about you but I'm not paying any attention to the "Second Impeachment Trial." Not worthy of my time nor attention. The exception is any Republican Congressman or Senator who goes along with this sham. That I will pay attention to and remember... I've avoided reading this book for some time. Probably for the same reason I've never seen Schindler's List. I don't want to put myself through that emotional trauma. To understand where I'm coming from - I choked up in tears just walking through the Holocaust Memorial in Boston. But time to get over that. Ordering the book today... In the old days (meaning just 2 or 3 years ago) after the Super Bowl I would be counting the days until Spring Training. Not this year. Kind of could care less....

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Looking back at JAWS perhaps the most unbelievable thing in the movie today would be the opening - people drinking and having a good time at the beach while having a bonfire. I mean that clearly requires an immediate suspension of disbelief in today's America... Cool "Impostor Syndrome" anecdote from Neil Gaiman... Prediction - would not be surprised if Mitt Romney is asked to host SNL prior to the November elections just to take some gratuitous shots at President Trump... "Eloquence is logic on fire." - Lyman Beecher... Heh Heh - a little mask humor... "We've noticed you're using an ad blocker" - translation: the script we run in the background has been identified and foiled. Can you please turn your ad blocker off because we promise we are up to mostly good. Trust us!... The FCC formally names Huawei as a national security risk yet Twitter allows them to promote themselves as someone "You might like" - WTF Twitter? What happened did the Taliban's check not clear?... "I, and I alone, am responsible for everything I think and feel." - Naval Ravikant. A very powerful quote to ponder. Literally could be life-changing...
