Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- US Navy's stealth Seawolf-class submarine shortage is extremely dangerous. Impression that Russia's and China's navies are weaker than believed - but so are ours.

- Trump's "Genesis Mission" AI Executive Order. Can't help but remember that the Manhattan Project, which the Genesis Mission is compared to, was done in secret and that other nations stole our findings through spies. Just saying.

- Congress should let the work opportunity tax credit expire. You know how I feel about federal programs with sunset dates.

- AI gets creepier every day. I too endorse the idea of having a dog for home protection instead of AI.

Could be true!

- Personal aviation about to get interesting. Couple years old but new to me.

- Trump's economic agenda.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- US dollar on track for one of the worst years in modern history. "A weaker dollar could make US exports more competitive, boosting Trump's plan to rebalance US trade, but makes imports more expensive, adding to the sting of tariffs."

- Benjamin Netanyahu puts President Trump forward for Nobel Peace Prize.

- Jonathan Turley: NYT in trouble for reporting actual news to its readers.

President Trump on the Growth Aspect of the BBB

President Trump has always had a three-legged stool approach to improving America's economy. And growth (higher GDP) has always been part of the plan.

- Jonathan Turley: Harvard makes the case against itself. Harvard consistent ranks dead last in free speech among universities - only right that they now get to rank first consistently in taxes paid.

- SBA announces that small business loans are up nearly 75%. "America's small businesses - which make up nearly 99% of private sector employees - will be the biggest beneficiaries of President Trump's fair trade policies."

- Never thought about the possible combination with self-driving vehicles for package and food delivery applications before.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Perspective: Every war in history started as a Trade War. "Not every Trade War resulted in immediate armed conflict."

- Morgan Housel with thoughts on tariffs, economic history, and market decline. I disagree with much of his assumptions and think much of his thoughts on history are incorrect but agree with his stance of keeping an open mind since neither of us are experts in history or the economy (and certainly not me). And to be fair this was written before the big market rebound.

Trump's Tariffs

Here's President Trump's full address on tariffs from the White House Rose Garden yesterday. (Speech starts shortly after 8:00 minute mark.)

It has been said that Donald Trump is leading a "counter-revolution" - after yesterday's tariffs and his "re-shoring" of manufacturing jobs it's hard to argue that description is wrong. Treasury Secretary Bessent may have said it best, "We are setting the stage for a long term economic growth."

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- The stress reducing power of humming. Think about it - do you know any stressed out people who hum?

- The beginning of a reckoning: the Middle East after Oct 7th. The tale of the tape says Iran is 12 times larger than Israel but I'd put my money on he Israelis.

- Bill Belichick's NFL Week 6 look ahead.

- Glenn Reynolds: Debt doom is coming. Steps I'd immediately take: eliminate all federal DEI programs, and funding for DEI. Any university that doesn't comply loses all federal funding. Cut all foreign aid to Ukraine and countries that don't have a reciprocal free trade agreement with us. Use those funds to help pay for any interest payments.

- Interesting (and scary) - are we in the endgame of the US financial system? "What you are witnessing is the consolidation and nationalization of the banking system in real time." Yes - this may be a pitch for crypto but it makes you wonder.

Credit Card Debt about to Pass $1 Trillion

Between the National Debt and the personal debt this country is carrying - I'm worried about our economic future. (Via)
