The Lesson is Clear for Anyone who Understands Basic Economics

States with no income tax like Florida, Texas, and Tennessee not pictured but they're really in the green too. (Graph via)

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- The comparison between AOC and Marco Rubio is pretty stark. I really want AOC to run for President now just for the unintentional comedy of her debate appearances.

- How Carthage challenged Rome with economics.

-  From the archives: Matt Ridley - Why global warning is good for us.

- The rise and fall of Red Robin.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

= Time to explore why so many modern politicians are getting rich. And if found they profited from graft or fraud - tie a bag of rats to their head and toss them in the Potomac.

- From the archives: They really should make a movie about political trickster Dick Tuck.

- America's Maritime Action Plan.

- a16z's Primer on Factory Economics for Startups.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Are Rome's attractions scarce goods? If people are paying for their time at attractions then they may feel less compelled to pick up after themselves or act with decorum (although good Catholics may feel guilty if they don't).

- Elon Musk says he will pay the legal fees of anyone who truthfully accuses Jeffrey Epstein or his clients of abuse.

- Did seem like more of a bug than a feature.

- Kid Rock from last night's Turning Point Show.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Why a Value Added Tax is the wrong fit for the US. I tend to agree.

- The X-Bat looks pretty cool.

- President Trump's tariffs vs the Supreme Court's duties. Think that tariffs are part of trade deals with foreign nations and are reciprocal are the key. The Constitution only gives the President power to negotiate foreign agreements. Plus the exploding national debt can be termed an emergency.

- 'People are tired:' Democrats splinter as shutdown nears record. Don't think they thought through the optics of not wanting to reopen the government because Senators may not want to work through the Christmas holidays.

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Using scare economic projections to push a climate change hoax? How dare they!

- A YouTube education. I would add Richard Feynman's lectures on physics and historian Sarah Paine.

- The Varsity takes the field. Keeping Hegseth in reserve allows Trump to keep military retaliation on the table without anyone asking Hegseth directly. He could be the bad cop.

- Jonathan Turley on the Clinton Foundation. Don't think there's any statue of limitations on RICO charges.

Pysics and Economics

The physics for large things like galaxies is different than the physics for the tiniest quarks. That much is known and accepted. However, the holy grail for physicists is a unifying theory that would unite both the gigantic and the microscopic.

Likewise, economics has been divided into the study of the large (Macroeconomics) and the personal (Microeconomics). Yet you never seem to read or hear about any economists working on a unifying theory of economics. This seems odd to me. Like such a theory is not a priority. Makes me wonder if it is because economic decisions are made by people who aren't always rational or because economics isn't really a science?

- Good news on Global Equality. Inequality is shrinking and it is capitalism that gets the credit. Still not perfect but getting better. (HT Steve Landry)

- Fill the tub. Good advice.

- NCAA reaches anti-trust deal. Supposedly Division 1 schools could have up to 790 scholarships with up to 105 for football.

- The Constitutional Case against Exclusionary Zoning. (HT Steve Landry)
