Procrastination

It has been years since we have had a professional family photo taken. I made it a goal this year to finally get them taken. I put it off thinking late summer/early fall would be best. But of course I am procrastinator and kept thinking maybe next week, still thinking I had time. That would indeed be true if Dave wasn't going to be gone from the Beginning of October until December. What is a family picture after all if it is missing the man of the house? A couple days before Dave left my neighbor was kind enough to offer to take some photos of us around the neighborhood. She is no professional but I think she did really good considering the material she had to work with. Poor Kinley was sick so she wasn't her usually smiley self.

Big enough for school?

She thinks so

The bell has rung

School is here. Jaxon is in 3rd grade this year, he has the same teacher as last year. Jaxon loves his teacher as do I and is really looking forward to this school year. Taylin is in 1st grade this year and is excited to eat lunch at school. She already adores her teacher and is glad that a lot of her friends are in her class.
First day of school:

Feeling a little nervous.

Second day of school:

Taylin turns 6!!

Taylin turned 6 on August 29th 2011. She had a two requirements for her birthday. The first being that we go to the zoo, the second that she get a pinata at her party. The day turned out to be "just perfect" as she described it. The best part being that Dave surprised her by coming home early from training (okay, this was my favorite part). He was gone all of August and wasn't expected home until the beginning of September so this was a great surprise for all of us. Unfortunately Dave wasn't home for breakfast. He is always in charge of the traditional gourmet birthday breakfast so I had to get up to make it, which isn't so bad expect for it has to be served in bed and Taylin is one early riser.

The kids were having so much fun it was hard to get a decent picture at the zoo.

The end is coming

The end is coming...................of summer, that is. I am sad yet excited at the same time. Sad for the rain that is sure to be on its way. Sad for no more lazy days spent at the beach, the lake and the park. Sad to spend less time with our friends and going on new adventures. Excited for a little more peace and quiet at home. Excited to have more time for some projects that I have wanted to take on. And excited for my kids who adore school and love to learn. Here are some random summer photos to enjoy:

We got year passes to the zoo and wildlife park, in case you were wondering about the random animal pictures. We saw A LOT of animals this summer.

At the beach Jaxon loves to hunt for the biggest kelp he can find to wear around him as part of his body armor.
