Happy Halloween from Google!

Google is so creative!
I love their homepage today!!
Happy Halloween to All!

Halloween Week Day 7

 Day 7. Halloween rituals. What do you do every year? What are you doing this year?

I am sad to say that I don't really have any traditions...
In the past, I have spent it with my family.
Trick or Treating with my brothers.
Celebrating like a kid, with the adults.

Visiting pumpkin patches
Eating a lot of 'bad for me' food
Smiling
Having a blast!

Happy Sunday and I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

No More Candy - just Fruits & Veggies

So, I have decided that we are giving out body healthy fruits and veggies instead of candy this year....
Enjoy, kids!

 A  sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The  pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... And YES, science now shows carrots  greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the  eyes.
 A  Tomato has four chambers and is red. The  heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes  are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart  and blood food

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound  heart and blood vitalizing food.
  and blood food

A  Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums.  Even the wrinkles or folds on  the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen  neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak.  These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body..

Avocadoes,  Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this?  It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow.  Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.
Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries
Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

 Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

What are you giving out when the kids come-a-knockin??
King Sized
or Fun Sized?

Is your house decorated?
Will you answer the door in your costume?
Are you dressing up??

Happy Monday & Halloween!

 Day 5. Decorations. Do you go all out? Do you just decorate yourself?

In all honesty, no - we aren't really decorating for Halloween.
We are looking for more decorations that can also be used for Thanksgiving.
So, a lot of pumpkins and fall items.

This is on our front door.

We found this one at Ross! Awesome steal!

This is on our counter.

This, I found at TJ Maxx!
It even came with the electronic candles!

What a bargain shopper I am! :-)

Cat vs Toaster

HA!
Cats are sooo funny!
Maybe not the friendliest - definitely hilarious!

Halloween Week Day 3

Day 3. What is your favorite Halloween candy?

Snickers!
-No Question-
-Snickers bars are my weakness-
Umm...
I have actually been thinking about getting just a big bag of snickers "for the kids," not answering the door/keeping the candy and then hiding it in my desk at work:-)

Happy Wednesday!

Halloween Week Day 2

 Day 2. What are you going to be the year for Halloween?

I am not very creative....
This past Saturday we went to a Halloween party and dressed up. Rich wanted me to dress up as a "polly wog" and I told him I had no idea what that was so I didn't want to do it - I know, I am a brat...haha
So he decided to be Bear Grylls
And as for me?
I was a Beauty Queen

The best part is that everyone was asking me:
"Is that real? Like, did you win that?"
And I embarrassingly enough had to admit that I once was the California State Fair Queen...
Isn't the crown just obnoxious?! haha
Gotta Love High School Priorities :-)

Happy Halloween!

Week of Halloween Blogs - Day 1

I am linking up with Liv over at Simply Sunshine & Daisy's for her fun Halloween Week of Blogs!

 Day 1. Last Halloween... Past Halloweens

Halloween 2009 was my first Halloween with my {now} husband! I was a flapper and he was a mobster - Boy he is handsome!

I enjoy Halloween - do I dare say: it isn't my favorite holiday...I never have good costume ideas so I always feel stressed around the month of October - trying to figure out what I am "going to be."

If I could be a flapper every year for the rest of my life, I would be, no questions asked - maybe I will have to ask my mom if I can keep the dress...hmm!

I would say that the first Halloween I spent with Rich was probably my all time favorite. We went to our family friends house, enjoyed great company and delicious food and wine!

Yes please!

I hope you all have a Magnificent Monday!!

Fill in the Blank Friday

1.   Nothing says fall like      butternut squash, scarves, and lots of family time & treats

2.   My favorite autumnal tradition is   baking, carving pumpkins, and decorating

3.  My favorite fall treat is   pumpkin seeds and pecan pie - pretty much any kind of pie..

4. Fall makes me think of    being cozy     because    most of the falls that I have had I lived in the bay area where we actually have some seasons and after school or on the weekends my mom would have the house dark with fires and candles ablazing :-) I am jonesing for a fireplace right now!   .

5.  Autumn free form word association, go!    fall, pumpkin, warm, cozy, leaves, Thanksgiving, holidays, family

6.  My go-to outfit in the fall is     I have to agree with this one: fall dresses tights and boots!

7.  My favorite fall holiday is (Halloween or Thanksgiving)    Thanksgiving. I have never had good or creative ideas for Halloween costumes so it is not my favorite - and I always save the candy too long to eat it - Thanksgiving is the best! Rich and I are planning to do our own Thanksgiving this year - together, I am so excited to make all of the yummy recipes and start traditions with my new husband!

Happy Happy Friday!!

A Day in the life: Customer Service - Volume 4

So all of the annoying and frustrating days are made up when 1 person, just ONE person makes a nice comment!

I answered the phone and a gentleman was on the other end. I looked up his account and was unable to find it and so he started to get frustrated with me. He told me that I needed to talk to the vice president of the company and tell him that I was having issues and no one else ever does (like I said, he was cranky)

After a few minutes I found his account - he had given me the wrong zip code because he had changed his address in an earlier call and had forgotten.

So, we went through why he called. At the end of the call I asked him if there was anything else I could help him with and he said, "Tell your vice president that you spoke with a jerk on the phone today..." And I told him that I wouldn't do that and that it wasn't a problem at all.  He continued to apologize to me for being a jerk! I was shocked! No one ever does that!

He then asked me if there was a number he could call to rave about my outstanding customer service! So I transferred him over to a supervisor and this is what was sent out to the staff:

"I just spoke with a customer who was very satisfied <and impressed> with LaTache’s service.  He started off the call on a not so pleasant note, but she quickly turned things around.  He said she calmly explained the situation and remained stable despite his forcefulness.  He also said she “has the patience of an angel” and we need more like her. A huge compliment indeed."

The patience of an angel?? Wow!
Thanks, sir! You really made my day!

A Day in the life: Customer Service - Volume 3

At the end of each call I have to ask if the customer would like to give a free trial to any friends of family members.

Here are a number of responses that I have gotten:

Me: "Before I let you go, do you have any friends or family who would enjoy a free trial of our newspaper?"
Customer: "Nope, they are all dead."
Me: "Okay....Thanks and have a great rest of your day"
*How do you respond to this nicely & appropriately??
{and another version of this response:
Me: "Before I let you go, do you have any friends or family who would enjoy a free trial of our newspaper?"
Customer: "No, they are all dead."
Me: "Okay....Thanks and have a great rest of your day"
Customer: <insert laughing man> "I am so funny! I was totally kidding..."
Me: <insert me laughing uncomfortably> "You would be surprised, I have actually gotten that response seriously"
Customer: "Really?!"
Me: "Yes! Now....if you were me, how would you respond?"
Customer: "I think that you handled it well, what do you say?"
Me: "Exactly!"

*I mean seriously...How do you respond to this nicely & appropriately??

~~~
Me: "Before I let you go, do you have any friends or family who would enjoy a free trial of our newspaper?"
Customer: "Sure {insert name and address of nephew}"
Me: "Great, thank you!"
Customer: "You know, my nephew, he is single and fairly attractive...?"
Me: "Oh, thank you, but I'm taken...But thanks for thinking of me"
*Ha! I am getting dates through this job?! Who knew?!
