Need to access my Outlook calendar on google Pixel phone

I have the Outlook on my Pixel phone. My main email account is a gmail one.
On my Windows Outlook I also have a hotmail account, which I use for the Calendar. I can't use my gmail account for this because that calendar will be local to that machine - I want it visible on my Surface tablet, my PC and my phone.
On Outlook on the phone, the Calendar is under my gmail account, meaning it can't access the hotmail Calendar on the PC.
I try and add my hotmail account to my phone Outlook, but it sends me to that DREADFUL Microsoft Authenticator, asking me to select a number there. As always with that wretched program, I fire it up and there are no numbers. I can't recall the number of hours Authenticator has stolen from me.
So I can't sync my Outlook phone calendar (gmail) with my Outlook PC calendar (hotmail).
If could get Authenticator to work, I might have a chance, but I, and millions of others, can never overcome that obstacle.

    Hi!

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

First, need to check why Authenticator shows "No Number Shown" issue. This normally happens when Authenticator isn’t set as a verified sign-in method for your Microsoft account, or when it’s installed but not linked to that specific account.

    Here are the steps:

    • Use your PC or your Surface, go to: https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info
    • Sign in with your Hotmail account.
    • Under “Security info” → “Sign-in method”, you’ll likely see:
      • Microsoft Authenticator (maybe unverified)
      • Possibly your email or phone
    • Click “Add method” → Choose “Authenticator app”.
    • Open the Authenticator app on your phone → tap “+” → Add work or school account → Sign in.
    • Scan the QR code shown on the PC.

Once that’s done, the next time Outlook asks you to “approve sign-in”, you’ll see the number appear in the Authenticator app instantly.

    OR

Skip Authenticator and use an App Password or IMAP (Workaround)

NOTE: IMAP only syncs email, not calendar or contacts. If you just need calendar sync, this isn’t enough.

Here are additional reasons why SMS could not send those verification to you (even if it worked before) - for redeeming only.

    • Region mismatch between your Microsoft account and mobile carrier - If your Xbox region or Microsoft account is set to a different country, the verification SMS is routed via a region gateway that doesn’t deliver locally.

Have a quick check what region is on the account and validate current number if same region then, it should work normally.

    If not, continue below.

    Go to: https://account.microsoft.com/security

    • Under “Security info”, verify:
      • Your current phone number appears with the correct country code.
      • It’s marked as verified.
      • If it says “Pending verification” , click Verify and complete the process.
    • Note: remove and re-add your phone number. This forces the backend to re-sync with the new SMS gateway.

    Try this method as well.

Instead of doing it through Xbox console or app, use: https://redeem.microsoft.com

    • Sign in with your Microsoft account.
    • Redeem your code there.

This bypasses part of the Xbox console’s verification API that sometimes triggers SMS requirements incorrectly.
