Why Are Some News Shows Allowed To Lie To You? ~ Read The Slow Death of Local Journalism

You shall not steal your neighbor’s integrity or twist truth into lies.

Integrity matters.

Here is an excerpt from THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT, The Slow Death of Local Journalism – By John T Hourihan Jr.

“The day before the trial was to start, Kevin went to the lake that he had always found comforting.

The lake was in the woods where he had fished when he was a boy. He sat on an old and rotted log at the water’s edge. A translucent green firefly hovered in the sunshine, barely gripping the tip of a stock of grass, and looked at Kevin from a few feet away. The iridescent bug was one of the oldest beings on the planet. It flitted from flower to grass stalk in the sun-filled afternoon, and the high-pitched whine of the cicadas was a welcomed backdrop to his thoughts.

“Why the hell am I doing this?” Kevin thought.

“My family doesn’t want me to. People in the town don’t want the complications? I’m being threatened from everywhere; my church probably even stopped me from telling the truth about them; and the people I work for won’t back me up. Why is it so damn difficult to tell the truth? Why is the truth so important when no one wants to hear it?

“They don’t want to be informed,” the dragon fly seemed to tell him. It left the grass shoot and flew closer to his face.

“They just want to be entertained.”

Kevin thought about this past handful of years. It was a distinct possibility that he had helped build a memorial for a group of dead soldiers no one wanted to remember. He had brought to light seeming corruption and lawlessness by those who were supposed to be enforcing the laws and then helped save a policeman’s job because it was the right thing to do.

He made people aware of the innocence of a kid who had been arrested for nothing, had pointed out cancer-causing chemicals leaking into the river, had illuminated a scheme to pay fewer taxes by a rich man, helped prevent a town wide conflagration, helped put an end to traffic taxing in a small town, helped house a burned-out family, and explained the use of the daily police log.

“Damn,” he told the dragonfly, who was now hovering around his head. “I have shown them the fraud, corruption, double-dealing, brutality, lawlessness, pollution, and lack of safety that exists right in the middle of their lives. I pointed out that some young people are doing good for their communities and helped add money to worthwhile fundraisers. And what do I get for it? I get threatened by lawyers and thugs. And the only thing they really like is the jokes, the sex, the outrageous.

The story that people liked the most was the one about the black man who was looking for a job in Faithville, and when he was inevitably told no, he had headed for the center of town to use the phone booth, and within an eighth of a mile he was arrested for being “a suspicious looking person.”

In other words, he was arrested for being black in a white town. Kevin had said it was pure racism, the same racism that hid behind the red lines in the real estate corners of even a small Unitarian, New England hamlet.

He pointed out that the racial hatred that had lain dormant, under rocks and behind trees in the “land of the free,” was beginning to come out into the light again, but that isn’t what readers had seen. What he heard most from the folks in coffee shops that week was that they thought it was funny. That a man was arrested for the color of his skin made them laugh.

“This journalism thing isn’t heading in a good direction as far as I can see,” Kevin said out loud, and watched as the dragon fly flew into the woods and landed on an ancient, rusted yellow steamroller.

Nationalism is the Resurrection of Medieval Feudalism

Nationalism always produces war, hatred, bigotry; and class, wealth, and racist divisions. The

illusion that has duped nationalists in all countries, is that whoever the chosen few are in their corner of the world, whoever and wherever that is, they think they are better, more powerful and more worthy than the rest. They are not.

It is out of fear, lack and anger that spawns lies of scarcity, insane ego and hate. There is also a bottomless greed that sets in, mistakenly thinking all the riches of money, land, and anything else they deem to be of value belongs to them, or should belong to them. It does not.

When it comes to the riches of the earth, as my grandson Chris says, “Doesn’t it all belong to Mother Earth?”

Nationalists do not deserve life, nor a better quality of life, more than any other classification of human being who is different from them, no matter what country they hail from.

The right to life is God given, not manmade. While we have the ability to reproduce our bodies, our souls are Divinely inspired, and immortal. The truth is, we are all the same, despite what the insane egos of nationalists proclaim. We are all the same, each and every one of us, not better, not worse, in having the right to life.

Nationalism is not to be solved by bringing about further nationalism, which is only an avoidance of the fact that despite its pigeon-holed, limited view of life, Nationalists are not better than anyone else. Their supposed solution solves nothing.

It is not within our human “rights” to go around and kill and/or go to war with everyone who is not exactly like us, has a different opinion than us, nor create faux caste systems that place us on the top of other people, or entire countries. Planting these kinds of self-destructive seeds is what brings about human and global cataclysms when these self-sown seeds mature. It not only kills the populations of people, animals and plants, it also kills this one planet on which we all live.

Nationalism is a poison to a country.

It is possible to solve problems peacefully with intelligent diplomacy, not a goal to be attained through greed, manipulation, lies and war. Nationalism is what divides people, not unifies them.

The ignorant, separate spirit of nationalism is spreading like fire all over the world. Nationalism, under the guise of patriotism and oligarchy, is cultivated and cleverly exploited by those who are seeking further expansion, wider powers, greater enrichment. On one hand each one of us takes part in this process, for we desire these things on a much smaller scale, in our families, jobs and social circles. Conquering other lands and other people provides new markets for goods as well as for political, financial, and spiritual/religious ideologies, as if that is a good idea.

Has it ever occurred to us that it is possible to improve new markets for goods, as well as promoting political and/or spiritual/religious ideologies with peaceful intelligence? It is possible to have peaceful resolution here all over the world, even now.

Nationalism, the hardened patriotic spirit, class and race consciousness, and oligarchy, are all ways of the self, and therefore separate. After all, what is a nation but a group of individuals living together for economic and self-protective reasons? Out of fear and acquisitive self-defense arises the idea of “my country”, with its boundaries and tariff walls, and various walls of separation, rendering brotherhood and the unity of humankind impossible.

It is because of nationalism, ready to defend our sovereign States, our beliefs and acquisitions, that we must be perpetually armed. Property and ideas have become more important to us than human life, so there is constant antagonism and violence between ourselves and others. By maintaining the sovereignty of our country, we are destroying our sons; by worshiping the State, which is but a projection of ourselves, we are sacrificing our children to our own gratification. Nationalism and sovereign governments are the causes and instruments of war.

The solution to nationalism is character education and development, including history lessons showing how empire after empire manifests by greed and dies by greed. Nationalism is not sustainable. Nationalism arises amid blind and willful ignorance. Let us not forget our human past, in every country, in every generation.

The solution to nationalism is to come to a greater awareness and understanding of who we are and why we are here on this single planet at this moment in time. The human race is not here on planet Earth to become subjugated to one person, nor one country, nor one world leader. We are born free people with free will, not to be usurped by anyone with such an unholy agenda.

We are here on this planet at this time to grow in awareness and appreciate our greater diversity, all of which are pure gifts. What makes us all unique creates a beautiful tapestry of life as a whole including differences in race, color, creed, gender, age, ability and disability, among any other difference we profess. None of our unique differences may at any time supercede the rights of others. They are our gifts to be treasured and shared.

History proves that continued selfishness, greed, and nationalism generates cataclysmic results within all societies as well as global earth changes, of which past worldwide floods and ice ages prove.

There is ONE RACE on this planet. It is the HUMAN RACE.

Loving Letter From The Apostle John To The World ~ Love Your Brothers And Sisters In The World

* PLEASE REMEMBER TO JOIN IN THE JULY-AUGUST 2019 MEDITATION AND PRAYER INTERVENTION FOR

Love is the answer

HUMANE TREATMENT OF OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS WORLDWIDE. Read how meditation and prayer reduced crime in Washington, D.C. by 48 percent in a controlled study in the preceding post.

At a time when the world is in need of loving and common sense solutions to every problem afflicting every country in the world, it is helpful to remember the words of John, the beloved apostle of Jesus. He wrote letters (also known as epistles); letters of inspiration, hope and guidance.

Whether it is the “religious right,” or spiritual believers of all denominations in all religions, the truth of John’s message is the same. Truth is recognized by all who hear it. The following are verses on how we are all supposed to treat each other if we dare claim to be religious or spiritual at all, since we are all brothers and sisters of one race of humanity on this one earth we share.

The following are verses from The First Letter of John:

1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear is tormenting. He who fears is not made perfect in love.”

1 John 2:9-11 “He who says he is in the light but hates his brother is therefore in darkness even until now. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for displeasure in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because that darkness has blinded his eyes.”

1 John 2:21 “I have written to you not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and are aware that no lie comes out of the truth.”

1 John 3:11 “For this is the commandment that you have heard from the beginning, that you must love one another.”

1 John 3:15-16 “Whoever hates his brother is a murderer; and now you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. By this we know his love for us, because he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for our brother.”

1 John 3:18 “My children, let us not love one another in word and in tongue, but in deed and in truth.”

1 John 3:23 “And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another as he commanded us.”

1 John 4:7-8 “My beloved, let us love one another; for love is from God; and everyone knows love is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God; for God is love.”

1 John 4:11 “My beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.”

1 John 4:16 “And we have believed and have known the love that God has for us, God is love; and he who dwells in love abides in God.”

1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear is tormenting. He who fears is not made perfect in love.”

1 John 4:20-21 “If a man says, I love God, and yet hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have received from him, that he who loves God ought to love his brother also.”
