Cochlear is proud to congratulate Professor Graeme Clark AC on being named a 2026 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering laureate – described by some as the Nobel Prize of engineering. Professor Clark’s pioneering vision led to the development of the multichannel cochlear implant, laying the scientific and engineering foundations for a global standard of care for people with severe-to-profound hearing loss. His work has enabled hundreds of thousands of people to access sound, communication and opportunity. The 2026 QEPrize recognises nine laureates whose collective breakthroughs in cochlear implants, deep brain stimulation, brain–computer interfaces and spinal stimulation represent a new frontier in neuroengineering. We celebrate this achievement and honour the profound impact of Professor Clark’s lifelong contribution to hearing science and medical engineering.
