It was a beautiful Sunday morning. I was excited as I was getting prepared and was heading for my very first make-up workshop (all thanks to the good people at RMK Malaysia for the invite!) at Pastis, The Gardens Mall. When it comes to make-up, I am but a novice, so I was anticipating to learn some tips and tricks on how to achieve a dewy make-up look (which I absolutely adore and would love to know how to do myself!) with RMK’s latest Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection. Furthermore, all the participants attending will be personally guided by the make-up maestro himself, Mr. Masaaki Abe, all the way from RMK Japan!

I reached there pretty early, so, I hung out at Pastis for a while and took some pictures. All make-up products and materials were carefully prepared and placed at each table. As I was strolling over to the RMK counter at Isetan, and there I saw the young-looking Mr. Masaaki himself, at the concourse area, with his interpretor for the day, Mr. Cheong. I couldn’t help  myself but to greet them, and we started chatting away, mainly about make-up and what he does. But we had to cut our conversation short as the participants of the workshop had arrived and the workshop needed to be on the way. He humbly excused himself and strolled off. I went back to Pastis and got myself ready for an exciting session.

The session started with Mr. Masaaki introducing RMK the brand and what it stands for and what we will be doing for the workshop. It was divided into two main sections – Basic dewy foundation make-up and Point make-up (using colours especially focusing on the eyes). With such grace and ease, Masaaki explained away how to create that perfect canvas for the face. He emphasized that “Less is more” when it comes to applying foundation and applying a thin layer of base (with big strokes across the face to achieve evenness) is utmost crucial to a perfect make-up staying power. A pink corrector will also help to put back some “colour” onto your face (if it is not pale and dull already before the make-up), elaborated Mr. Masaaki. With experts strokes and touches, the dewy make-up based was completed and participants were given time to try out the method themselves.

Next, we moved onto point make-up where the latest Autumn/Winter Collection was used, carefully shown by Mr. Masaaki, how easy it was to apply this specially formulated gel type pearl-like pigmented eyeshadow. The eyes instantly popped and brightened the whole face. The award-winning RMK mascara were used after the eyelashes were carefully curled (with a special “pull-down” technique taught by Mr. Masaaki) to achieve the greatest length and volume! I was amazed how different the eyes looked by now, on the model’s face. A flush of pink cheek colour was applied and a gloss completed the whole look. It was simple, yet the finishing look exuded a certain charm and dewiness that had that glow-from-within-kind of make-up look! Amazing indeed. The participants tried on the technique excitedly after that and everyone was having such a great time (with the assistance of some helpful RMK beauty consultants). Some participants even grabbed the chance to take some pictures with the master himself towards the end of the workshop (Me included >_<).

All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I had a great deal of fun as I have learnt so much from him.
