La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la, la, la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la, la, la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la, la, la-la, la

Now that I’ve lost everything to you
You say you wanna start something new
And it’s breakin’ my heart you’re leavin’
Baby, I’m grievin’
But if you wanna leave, take good care
Hope you have a lot of nice things to wear
But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there

Oh, baby, baby, it’s a wild world
It’s hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it’s a wild world
I’ll always remember you like a child, girl

You know I’ve seen a lot of what the world can do
And it’s breakin’ my heart in two
Because I never wanna see you sad, girl
Don’t be a bad girl
But if you wanna leave, take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there’s a lot of bad and beware
Beware

Oh, baby, baby, it’s a wild world
And it’s hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it’s a wild world
And I’ll always remember you like a child, girl

…la-la-la-la-la-la-la, la, la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la la la-la, la
Baby, I love you
But if you wanna leave, take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there’s a lot of bad and beware
Beware

Oh, baby, baby, it’s a wild world
It’s hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it’s a wild world
And I’ll always remember you like a child, girl
Oh, baby, baby, it’s a wild world
And it’s hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it’s a wild world
And I’ll always remember you like a child, girl

Times are changing, nothing stays the same
For this jukebox generation
Adhere to fashion like computer games
Modern day communication

The news hard to take will fade in tomorrow
They are the strong, they’ll survive

The wild and the young, they all have their dreams
The wild and the young, they got to be free
The sun never sets for souls on the run
The wild and the young, yeah

Roaring passion with no guilt or shame
It’s accepting education, yeah
Misbehaving, no regrets, no blame
With a bold kind of sophistication

So close to the edge and high on the wire
They are not wrong, they’re alive

The wild and the young, they all have their dreams
The wild and the young, they got to be free
The sun never sets for souls on the run
The wild and the young

So close to the edge and high on the wire
They are not wrong, they’re alive
Look out
Wild, wild
The wild and the young, y-y-y-y-young

The wild and the young, they all have their dreams
The wild and the young, they got to be free
The sun never sets for souls on the run
The wild and the young, they all have their dreams
The wild and the young, they got to be free
The sun never sets for souls on the run
The wild and the young

The wild and the young
Oh, alright

The Sun, 7 of Wands, The World and the Knight of Pentacles

Well this is a first for me. I set-out to do a 3-card spread and the deck assigned me FOUR cards.

Major Arcana (Trump cards) represent life lessons, karmic influences, and archetypal energies that are affecting you right now; and set the scene in a spread – with the other cards relating back to that core Major Arcana meaning. When two Major Arcana cards appear together, it’s a sign that there’s an important dynamic between two major forces or major life-concepts at work. There are two Major Arcana cards here: The Sun & The World so let’s start with them.

The Sun is the Planetary Trump of the Sun; ruled by Leo. It symbolizes vitality, joy, creative energy, personal power, self-confidence, optimism, self-expression, authenticity, and TRUTH – breaking free of illusions which are part and parcel of the card that comes before this one in Tarot: The Moon. If you’ve been the victim of lies or deception the Truth will be revealed, along with the perpetrators of said lies.

The World is the Elemental Trump of Earth and Planetary Trump of Saturn. Saturn is the Planet of Karma – the taskmaster of the Zodiac – and here is linked to Capricorn. It governs old age and the passage of time. Saturn’s role is a teacher whose job is educating us in life’s lessons. The World is the end of the Fool’s journey through the Major Arcana. You are exactly where you should be.

OK, let’s stop right here. Fuck me if these two don’t describe EXACTLY what was on my mind this morning. The fact that Humankind – as opposed to Nature and Animalkind – is filled with lies and deception at every turn. There are VERY few humans I trust and it doesn’t take much for me to count you out of that list.

The 7 of Scepters (Wands) IS the Lady of Valour ruled by Mars in Leo. Both defiant and aggressive, this feline Vampyress (endowed with the swift strength of a Panther) represents one’s fighting nature. We are empowered to draw the power of The Enemy into ourselves. The 7 of Scepters also indicates strong convictions.

Finally, as the Lord of the Wild and Fertile Land and King of the Spirits of Earth, the Prince of Skulls (Pentacles) is linked to the astrological sign of Taurus which bestows upon him the attributes of stability, determination, and patience. This Prince (Knight) can also be stubborn, materialistic, romantic, and sensual. WILD. The Prince of Skulls represents a focused and purposeful course of action; and a deep desire to connect with Mother Earth (Mother Goddess). The White Moth in the lower right-hand corner is a symbol of change and transformation – a messenger from the Spirit World.

The cards never lie. I am exactly where I should be at this time: cautious, calculated, and canny. Instinct reigns supreme, as does Mother Nature. In order to deceive others you must first deceive yourself. I remain true to myself at all times and at all cost.

25 days and counting

Ostara (Spring Equinox) is still 25 days away but already Spring’s in the air here. I’ve heard Rock singing in the morning (Robins are a sure sign of Spring.), two wild canaries have shown up to partake of the bird freeder, and the doves are getting ready to start a new family.

Friday I spent a few hours cleaning up the Concrete Jungle which meant schlepping things out to the dumpster. I think I made 10 trips in all. Ramses LOVES being out there with me – “with me” being the operative phrase because each time I returned from a dumpster trip he was there in the entryway waiting for me to return so he could accompany me back outside. Which he did. Ten times. At least he wasn’t getting himself in trouble catching birds or trying to climb the fence. LOL.

I lost a handful of plants during the time they spent indoors last November:

But the majority survived, including all of the herbs which had to reside on the new baker’s rack where they received a modicum of sunlight each day…

and the impatiens which overwinter here quite nicely when protected from frost. Most of these are on their second year.

Yesterday – with the help of my trusty sidekick – I began reconfiguring the Concrete Jungle. I’m on version 3.0. First task was re-installing some of the plant hoops along the fence. These will hold all my herbs and any other plants that require full sun. (I fully intend on growing more pepper plants this year.)

I tried using Tim’s electric drill but it worked for shit, so I relied on the more reliable method of attaching each hoop by hand. (Ever hear of the saying “Put your back into it”? Well, I did. Unfortunately, I strained my lower left back – nothing yoga and a couple of White Willow Bark didn’t ease.)

With most of the herbs transferred to the fenceline, I relocated this monster of a Nasturtium which I grew from seed back in 2023!

The week before the 2024 Great Painting Project I’d repotted the Pinellia tripartita (aka “Green Dragon”). She’d been in that same pot from day one and the soil had compacted over time. When I dug-up all the corms I must’ve had over 50!!! What soil was left was remarkably healthy, most likely due to the worm castings I added each Spring. As I was unearthing the corms I noticed two things: (1) no roots and (2) they were in layers all the way down. I decided to use two pots and layered them in each, with the fat end of the corm down. I crossed my fingers I would not lose any of them as this plant is extremely hard to find. Guess what? My Green Dragon is showing signs of life!!! The shoots she’s putting out is another sign that Spring is just around the corner…

When moving plants back I decided to keep three of my hellebores on the front porch. It’s the perfect lighting situation and one of them has even graced me with a flower.

The fourth one, a recently-purchased “Onyx Odyssey” might be getting ready to put out a flower of her own.

This is what the flowers look like:

Another sign of Spring: The first Viola odorata flower of the season.

I am far from over with the re-design, though. I ordered another (larger) plant rack which will be delivered this week and I’m trying to decide what to do with this:

Whoever loves and understands a garden
will find contentment within.

Blepping

I couldn’t believe Ramses sat still long enough for me to get a shot of him “blepping” or was he just giving his Maman a raspberry…

The term ‘blep’ in reference to a cat’s behavior of sticking out its tongue casually and momentarily originated from internet culture and social media platforms where pet antics are commonly shared. It is not a scientifically recognized term within veterinary practice. Instead, ‘blep’ is a colloquial, endearing term adopted by cat owners and enthusiasts to describe the quirky, cute gesture when a cat partially extends its tongue, often unknowingly, which has become popularized through widespread sharing of images and videos of cats performing the act. [source]

While we’re on the subject of Ramses, here’s a slideshow of how he normally behaves when I’m trying to take a photo. He’ll do ANYTHING but sit still!
