(…I know. Never believe he’s not so…)
Diego may have been a Familiar, but Ramses is proving himself to be a Magickal cat in his own right.

Several months ago Ramses performed a sleight of hand with one of his toys: a stuffed mouse tiny enough to fit in his mouth, and bereft of both face and feathery tail. We named it “Road Kill”. This particular toy was also small enough to fit under the couch. Yep. That’s where he’d bat it – every time. I’d dutifully retrieve Road Kill (No small task.) only to have the cat swat it back under the couch. One night I tired of this “game” and hid the mouse high up on the entertainment center between the sound bar and the TV. Ramses did not see me do this. The next evening all three of us were in the living room. At one point Tim took off his slippers and put them in front of the recliner where he was sitting. I was on the couch. We were watching TV. Ramses was prowling around, watching the birds in the Concrete Jungle, and generally hanging-out. Note: When Ramses plays with ANY toy, his M.O. is to do it in such a way that we notice him. (He’s a show-off.) Now pay close attention…Tim got cold and went to slide his feet into the slippers only to find one blocked with something. Reaching into the shoe, Tim pulled out – you guessed it – Road Kill. There was NO way either of us could have missed Ramses putting that toy into the shoe. NO WAY. We were sitting there the whole time and the cat’s whereabouts at all given moments are IMPOSSIBLE to miss.
It’s Magick, pure and simple, and he’s performed similar “illusions” since then. But there’s more to this Magickal cat than just, well, performing magic. For instance, many photos I take of Ramses have a sparkle or a mystical feel to them – without the use of filters or special effects. They happen naturally. Like these:
My funny little Magickal Puzzle Box is also FASCINATED with both the incense I burn and the candles I light. Flame. (He got too close to the ones in the bathroom and ended-up with slightly singed fur on his tail. Nothing noticeable but you could smell it!)
Although Ramses hasn’t participated in any conjuring except his own, he has shown enough of an interest in my activities that I got him a tiny pentagram of his own!
I mentioned back in 2019, when he first came to live with me, that Ramses is a Gemini. Well, it just so happens that in Tarot the Planetary Trump of Mercury (which rules Gemini) is The Magician card.

‘Kayso, given the fact that (1) He’s attracted to magickal workings and (2) He PEFORMS magickal workings, I got Ramses a Magician’s Cape. He looks so cool in it, but I tell you it’s like wrestling with an octopus trying to get photos of him wearing it…
Never forget…

Heart’s “Magic Man” also applies and I reword it accordingly when I sing it to him: He’s a magic cat, aww yeah. He got the magic paws!
