Mountain Tailorbird

It took me three trips to Ulu Kali for this tiny bird. They would go  foraging in and out of the thick ferns ,tracking them is a challenge in itself. This time I was quicker on the draw!

I haven’t posted any photos of the Common Tailorbird before.  This is a male Orthotomus sutorius maculicollis which has dark streaks on the breast   Taken on the clothes hanger at my backyard.

A Rufous-Tailed Tailorbird (Orthotomus sericeus) foraging for food in the scrub. A loud caller  for a small   bird.

Male Dark-Necked Tailorbird.

Managed to snap  a few photos of the male Dark-Necked Tailorbird (Orthotomus atrogularis)  today. Compare these to yesterday’s post of the female. The dark grey colour around the throat is more prominent than the female.

18 July 2009, Kemensah, Selangor What would you do if you were in her position? A cute female Dark-Necked Tailorbird ,( local name: Perenjak Pisang) was trying to relieve herself from a terrible itch by rubbing her neck against a branch.

		The fruits of  the wild  fig tree  she was rubbing herself against.
