2020 News and Notes and Stuff

So, here we are, the first blog post of 2020, only 8 days in. I expect great things.

2020 stands to be a pretty good year for me, comics wise. Things are happening in a number of places, and I’ll run those things down a little bit here, along with some goals I hope to achieve this year too.

First and foremost, The Argus comes out in 2020 – like, the whole thing will be out this year. Issue 1 is scheduled for release on February 26th, and issue 2 is set to hit store shelves on March 4th. Here’s a peek at THE ARGUS issue 2 cover:

It’s in January’s Previews magazine, order code is JAN201416.

Also, hopefully coming later this year is my next Action Lab book, BIGFOOT FRANKENSTEIN. This one is shaping up to be a hoot, I had a ton of fun writing it and I can tell that Vernon is having a ton of fun drawing it.

I’ve got a crazy sci-fi pitch making the rounds that I helped my buddy Rolf develop, a manga-inspired cyberpunk story called GOD POWER. It’s in the hands of a number of publishers and I really hope someone takes a chance on it, because I really want to see where Rolf goes with this story. I don’t think he’d mind me posting the cover here:

Besides God Power, my agent is currently pushing two other projects to publishers, a supernatural crime thriller called PATCHWORK…

And an all-ages adventure story called THE GATE-KEEPER’S DAUGHTER…

My goals for this year? Two new books at publishers. That seems like a pretty modest goal, pretty achievable. With The Argus, Bigfoot Frankenstein, and The Last Call (that’s the third Action Lab book I have a deal signed for, but it won’t see a release until probably 2021), I have a good amount of work coming out over the course of the next 12-18 months, and I really just want to keep the momentum going.

I’ve been building up a pretty solid little library of my own work, with stuff like Long Gone, Breakneck, Scum of the Earth, Knowledge, Bastard’s Waltz, and The Hand of Glory, not to mention the dozens of short stories I’ve had published over the years in books like FUBAR, Imaginary Drugs, Out of the Blue, Weird Zombie Horror, Caliber Presents, Ignition, Oxymoron, and 100% Biodegradable. Considering that making comics was really the only thing I’ve ever truly wanted to do with my life, I think I’m doing all right.

All the best to you in 2020 (I know that makes it sound like I not writing any more blogs but I swear I am.)

Cheers.
