Greetings! It’s been a while since I did a rundown on current work and what’s going on with me, so let’s dive right in.
First order of business – The Argus. Ooof, did Covid do a number on this series. The first issue was released in March just before the outbreak, and at the current time, as of right now that I’m writing this, the rest of the series has been cancelled by Action Lab, with the possibility of the trade coming out later this year, maybe.
This really sucks. Darryl and I poured a TON of work into this book. Now, I know Covid did some major damage to the comic book industry, and I know lots of people are way worse off than we are, but still, it stings, to know we worked so hard to make such a fun book and now there’s a chance it won’t get seen.
BUT…on to bigger and better things. Darryl and I have re-teamed for a new Original Graphic Novel called Feeder, which has been picked up for publication by the publisher Behemoth Comics. We’re super psyched to be working with Behemoth, and we’re putting together one hell of a fun story with Feeder. Totally different from what we did on The Argus, Feeder is a gritty crime story. We have my friend and talented letterer/designer Steve Ekstrom joining us, and we’re going to make a kick-ass book. Check out this sneak peek of the cover!
Also in the works is Bigfoot Frankenstein. This book is slated to be published by Action Lab, but I’m not really sure what the plan is any more at the current moment. We have almost finished 4 of 5 issues, colors are coming along, and I’m really enjoying the book – it’s funnier than anything I’ve previously written, and Vernon Smith has really killed it on the art. I hope things straighten out for this book soon, because I can’t wait for folks to read it.
Also have a few other pitches coming together for specific publisher (to be named later), who asked me to pitch some out-there, oddball, black and white stuff – specifically black and white. Well, I’ve got pitches – first up is See You in Hell, the story of a mad scientist fighting to stop invading monstrosities. Also coming together is Pieces of Hate, a post-apocalyptic tale of freaks, family, and excessive violence. Working on a new iteration of Instinct, a pyschological crime story with a truly disturbed lead character. Last but not least is Reapers, a cyberpunk/sci-fi story about superhuman planetary saviors and what happens after they save the planet.
I’ve also started working on a new project with a friend of mine named Joël Séguin, a project he’s been working on for a few years, I’m going to be working with him on story and dialogue. It should be a LOT of fun.
Finally, at least for now, is my long-dormant Tom Waits anthology project, which has recently resurrected and might be seeing publication in the near future from my friends at publisher 215 Ink.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for giving even the tiniest of craps about my work. It’s appreciated!
