Sneaks Peeks of New Stuff!

Greetings, reader or readers, depending on the day, of this fine-if-not-well-maintained-blog.

I hope everyone is well! Let’s get right to the reason you’re here: SNEAK PEEKS.

I always have a ton of irons in the fire, it’s the only way I know how to work, the only way I know how to be even remotely successful at writing comics. So I have plenty of upcoming work that I hope to find a home for. Let’s get at it.

First up is a story called NRV: No Redeeming Value. This is an old idea rejuvenated for 2023 with dynamic artist Wedersom Arantes.

Next up is one I’m super psyched about – I have literally never had a script come together as easily as this one – Not the One, art by Jo Masson. Here’s the lineup of characters.

Next up is Patchwork, another old idea coming to life thanks to artist Kleber Flores.

This one’s going to be fun – a superhero/crime romp called Not Dead Just Sleeping, with art by Ricardo Castineiras.

Here’s something that will be pretty cool, a weekly webcomic idea called The Godwood with artist Valentin Ramon.

This one will be a lot of fun – a 1980s horror story, one part IT one part Cthulhu mythos – The Unfolding, with artist Josef Sisson and colorist Gavan O’Reilly.

Next up is my “noir street fighter” story called Chokepoint, with art by Ande Rummel.

Recently announced is Happyland, coming from Scout Comics, with artist and Bigfoot Frankenstein co-creator Vernon Smith.

Last but not least is something just for fun, with my friend Francesco Iaquinta and colorist Sean Burres. Fans of 1980s cartoons might recognize this…again, strictly for fun.

That’s all the news that’s fit to print for now. I hope you enjoyed it! Cheers!

I love Black Hammer!

I also love Jeff Lemire’s work, he’s a huge influence on me. In fact, here’s a picture of me, tabling besides Jeff, at Free Comic Book Day at Gotham Central comics in Mississauga, back in 2015. Ignore my hat, I was trying something.

I am also a huge fan of Jeff Lemire’s Black Hammer universe, it’s such a fun and fresh interconnected universe, with SO much room to play around in. I’d love to write something set in the world of Black Hammer…so I did!

Now, I have to state, UNEQUIVOCALLY, that this was just for fun – Jeff Lemire and his partners own these characters, I in no way am claiming ownership or anything of the sort. This is a pure fan comic, nothing more. That said…if Jeff wants to to an Abraham Slam miniseries, this is just the beginning of a larger story…

Written by me, illustrated by Francesco Iaquinta, and lettered by Vernon Smith – an homage to one of my favorite Black Hammer characters, Abraham Slam. I love the old school pulps, and Abe is a perfect example of that.

I hope you enjoy!
