Watercolor in St. Augustine

We went to St. Augustine, Florida a few weeks ago, and I took a picture of a window on a house/shop on St. George street.  This is a watercolor based on that picture.  While walking down St. George street, we went into an art gallery and there was a painting class in progress.  St. Augustine is full of art and galleries, so if you’re ever near Jacksonville, take a detour and spend a day in the old city.  You won’t regret it!

Abstract Art: Oil Pastel

Another creative urge hit me, so I broke out the oil pastels and a 9″ x 12″ piece of watercolor paper, then commenced to sit down and stare at the empty white paper, hoping something would inspire me.  Nothing came.  Minutes passed.  Staring at the paper, I saw the play of the shadows from my head, so I outlined them.  What follows is the result of those first strokes.  The piece practically drew itself.

Sarah Palin’s Thermos

Oh not really.  I thought it might be neat to see how many visitors I’d get if I mentioned Sarah Palin’s name.  Heck, while you’re here, look around.  I like to draw, paint, play, etc.  Maybe this could open a whole new world for you.

This is another meeting doodle.  This particular meeting took over 2 hours.  I had nothing else to do, and no, I wasn’t drawing this for the entire 2 hours.  I slept some, too.  It didn’t intentionally start out as something I’d post, but what the heck?  It’s my lunch break, and I’m hardley surrounded by art here, so I figured I’d post it.  The color was added with a simple wash of watercolor pencils – not too delicately, I might add (but you can see that anyway, right?).  Enjoy the rest of your day!
