Tat For Which I've Paid

Came sealed in this hard plastic box, which makes it hard to imagine it could have been damaged in transoceanic shipping. In fact, it was "Manufactured and Assembled Entirely in the U.S.A.", in White City, Oregon, so no one in a factory on the other side of the Pacific can be blamed for dropping it & then slapping it in the box anyway; it was good ol' American ingenuity. Course it was shipped from OR to NJ before returning to the Coast. What a world, where I saved eight dollars by avoiding the manufacturer.

When I took it from the shipping box it rattled, & I thought, "Oooh, detail parts", but the rattle was broken & inadequately or possibly never glued parts. Note also broken piping/hoses on chassis & shell, which weren't locked together, but separated when I took it out to take pix.

Looked like a very rough coupling that partly detached the tackboard & ladder; little too much detail for me.

When I called the dealer "Bob" told me they'd been seeing more of this recently. Maybe Kadee can't find good packers or QC people. They certainly can't find anyone to proof there their story.

Anyway, "Bob" advised me all the ones in their warehouse were already promised, so he said he'd call Kadee & see if they had any lying around, & if not I'd get a refund. Have to wait until Tuesday, as "Bob" will be at a train show in Mass. over the wknd. I said I hoped he had a good time & he said, "More work." A man after my own heart.

Occasionally chunks will descend from above. Not good to get sticky, dusty spider-stuff in locomotive gearing, rolling stock (Stops rolling.) or even a turn-out. Can't come up w/ a scenario for giant brown snowballs all over the desert, either, so it's clean sweep time, 'cept it's sweep the overhead, not the deck. And bulkheads too. This stuff sticks!

I have somehow misplaced my wallet somewhere in the bunker, or lost it in the street. Not in my pants, not visible anywhere in here. Nowhere around the desk, which is where I last vaguely remember it & where it would ordinarily be. I used my debit card last night, so I think the effing thing is somewhere in here, but where the fucking hell did I put it, & why did I put it where I can't find it??

Totally paralyzed; can't get cash, can't use my bus pass, need various ID cards, yada.

I doubt someone got in & then walked out w/ it while locking the door from the inside, but I stopped the card anyway.

Not impossible it fell out of my pocket on my way back from the corner store; wish I could remember if I used the card online after getting 7-Up, in which case it's madness or burglary, or prior, when it's mere idiot loss. Yet I'm sure I wouldn't have put it in a drawer for some reason, or forgotten that I had. And I've looked in most drawers already.

One consolation: Wasn't a dollar in it.

Nonetheless: Fuck fuck fuck!!! Last damn thing I need is bullshit like this.

Spring has barely sprung yet spring training is over.
