Here's to 10 Awesome Years!!
I want to say HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to our great friends Kim and Matt Cates. Ten years ago today we were getting ready for a beautiful wedding. We went to the salon together to get our hair done and did our makeup together. I still have my pink dress, although I never wore it again like I was certain I would. :)Everything was perfect (although it was a little hot). Kim looked beautiful--and she hasn't changed a bit (lucky for Matt). Kim and Matt are an awesome team together and we are blessed to have them as friends. Here's to many more wonderful years together!!
Carter's Corner
First thing in the morning, standing as tall as he can: "Look how much I grew last night!" (He says this pretty much every morning--why do boys insist on being bigger and stronger?)
"But Mom, I didn't hear you because I had my eyes closed!"

Good Times, Good Times
"Dressed up"
So, here's what we've been up to. Last Wednesday, our friend Nancy, her daughter Sara, my kids and I took a trip to a dairy farm near our home. We had a picnic, ate lots of ice cream and took a picure with this big cow. It was fun!
On Friday we went to the lake with Aunt Laura and my Aunt Hoolie. She and my Uncle Cary moved here from Az. in January. It was so nice to spend some time together. They're still quite a drive from us, but better than Arizona! (The drive will be shorter next time if she takes the highway, like I told her to, instead of relying on her OnStar :))
On Saturday, Brent and I went to a wedding. It was a nice date for us, the wedding was beautiful (makes me think of my own beautiful wedding, 10 years ago!?!), and we had a great time, dancing the night away. No wait, that's not what happened. How was it again? Oh yeah, we sat at our table, sipping cocktails as we watched other people dance the night away. Some things never change, and that's the way I like it.
James, Caleb and Carson left on Friday to spend the weekend with James' family. They got home last night, tired and happy.
P.S. I increased the security on this site a little bit, that's why you received a new invitation to view and have to have a Google account. You have to be on my special list in order to be able to be updated on these adventures.:) Let me know if there is anyone I missed.

Dinner with the McGregors
All the kids are pretty good eaters. They've learned to understand why they need to fight the urge to let me know what they hate about what I've made for dinner that night. And they love to get "gessert" (as Caleb calls it), which is usually a tootsie roll. Little kids are so easy to please!
In the picture, Carson is mad about something, so he won't look at the camera. He's just like his mother!

Carter's Corner
I just spent 30 minutes waiting for my lake pictures to upload and then they didn't go through for some reason, so that will have to wait. But I wanted to start something called Carter's Corner. Carter is our funny man:
One morning while I was getting him dressed: "Aw Mom, why do I have to have to wear underwear everyday?"
"Mom-when do I get to be sick and throw up?"
This is from a long time ago, but I have to share it. One day when I was getting dressed, when he saw me, he ran into the bathroom, brought my bra to me and said "Here mom, here's your thing for your chins!"

Houston, We Had Tomato(e)
So, we have these small tomatoe plants in a big pot on the back deck. It has been fun watching it grow and last week, it sprouted a tiny tomatoe! Yesterday I was so impressed by how much it had grown in just a few days. I was having visions of it growing plump and juicy, and of myself slicing it, putting salt on it and broiling it--YUM! When I went inside to get my camera to document its progress, I returned to find this:
The following exchange took place:
Me: "PARKER!!!!! What did you not understand about "Don't touch the tomatoe?!?""
Parker: "Oh, Sowwy Mama" (As he's trying to stick the tomatoe back on the plant.
Aye--maybe there will be another one next week. By the way, is there an "e" on the end of tomatoe or not? Ever since the Dan Quayle "Potato(e) incident", I get confused.
We're going to the lake today, I'll try to post pictures later.

The following is the draft of the first post I was going to do when I first set up my blog. I didn't post it because (of course) I hadn't figured out how to download pictures yet. It has been saved as a draft this whole time. The date was Jan. 12, 2007. The next day, as you all know, my life (among so many others) changed forever. I can't help notice the change in my tone from then. So unsuspecting, with all the attempts at humor and whatnot. Maybe that part of me will return someday. Today, it makes me really miss my sister--it was the last day I spoke to her.
Finally!
I set up this blog months ago and (hopefully) this will be my first post! I've wanted to keep a blog for a while to update friends and family on, of course, the antics of the McCaig Er's. (Get it?) I didn't know of course that I would be including Caleb and Carson to the degree that I will be. We are all doing pretty well, under the circumstances. The boys and James are living with us. The boys go to daycare during the day, which they love. And I am back to Mama of three very active ankle-biters. We have had fun this summer so far, going to the pool with friends, going to the lake, the park, the mall, etc.
The kids are growing like weeds every day. Aren't they cute? Parker and Carson ("The 2-year olds", as they are known around the house) are talking like crazy, Caleb and Carter (the 4-year olds) get along real well these days and enjoy each other's company (for the most part anyway), and Hunter is the Little Mama to all of them.
