public school started this week which means our kindergarten program started this week and so far not too many tears. Most of the children, teachers of us are exhausted.
This year the kindergarten students attend their public school kindergarten in the morning and then come to child care around 11:30. So some days I am not going into work until 11:00 since we are a before school program we still open at 7:00 so the co teacher and I share the opening and coming in at a later time. If I was one of those go getters I would get so much done on those days I didn’t go into work until 11.
Our students this year are so happy. Most of the students just do what we ask and happily say okay whenever we ask/tell them to do something, lining up from the playground isn’t a struggle, cleaning up from free play is amazing our afternoon meeting is our only struggle but we will get there! Co-teacher and I have had several compliments from parents about our program. I think the best part however is the children we have some children that are only here for an hour or so in our program, they have asked their parents to come get them later, they have asked their parents if they can come every day. It is a welcome change from last year where co teacher and I were constantly saying “we have good moments but we never have a good day”.
Now I am taking a chance in hitting the publish button because I have developed a thing about being overly excited about how well things are going and being afraid to admit out loud that things are good, it is really quite difficult to hit that publish button because if I do it could all go wrong. So deep breath and………
The first week

Things are going to stay great!
I’m so glad that it’s going well and it will continue to do so! A positive outlook is wonderful for everyone–kids and teachers alike. I’m trying to be positive.
