Congratulations Oana, Ren, Di and Chennaiah – JOC published!

We are happy to see our latest paper published today in The Journal of Organic Chemistry. The paper describes the application of our glycosylation method to form alpha-glucosidic linkages with high stereoselectivity. As part of the paper Oana completed the synthesis of a pentasaccharide containing 4 alpha-glucosidic linkages. The research was funded by Research Ireland through a Career Development Grant to Eoghan, a Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship to Oana, and a Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship to Chennaiah.

The paper is published by the American Chemical Society at the link below:

Congratulations Katie, Di and Joe!

Congratulations to Katie, Di and Joe on their latest paper in Org Biomol Chem! The paper was published today as an open access paper. It describes a new mechanistic understanding in glycosylation chemistry and demonstrates applications for this understanding. The new theory that challenges the existing paradigms arose through a combination of DFT calculations and experimental investigations. The work was funded by Research Ireland and calculations were made possible through ICHEC and UCD’s SONIC high performance computing facilities. The paper is OpenAccess and is available at the link below:

Congratulations Vanessa!

Congratulations to Vanessa. She submitted her PhD thesis this week and had her paper published in Org. Biomol. Chem. the organic chemistry journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Congrats to Bhargava also who was a co-author on the paper. The paper is free to read (open access), see details below.

Great talk Vanessa @DublinChemistry

Well done to Vanessa @McGarrigleGroup @ucdchemistry on her excellent talk at the Dublin Chemistry Talks today in Trinity College Dublin.

Some of Vanessa and Bhargava’s results on carbosulfonylation appeared on @ChemRxiv today.

This is something we have been working on for a while now so it is great to have it published. We dedicated the paper to Prof. Mike Casey in honour of his retirement from UCD last year. The work was funded by the Irish Research Council (GOIPG/2019/2747, GOIPG/2014/528) and SFI (12/RC/2275_p2). Open Access funding was provided by IReL.

Great CSCB Meeting and Congrats Bhargava and Vanessa!

We were treated to great talks on Friday at the 22nd CSCB Symposium @ucddublin, with great talks from Prof @JonathanClayden, Prof @ClotildePolicar, Prof Stefan Oscarson @ucdchemistry, Prof @EdAndersonGroup & Prof Dale Boger @scrippsresearch. In addition to the keynote speakers our own Dr Bhargava Reddy gave a great talk on his work in the ECR session.

Also, congratulations to Vanessa on winning (another) poster prize at the event for her research. She is pictured below with the other poster prize winners. Congratulations to all: Vanessa, Kathryn & Declan from @ucdchemistry, Joseph from @DCUChemistry & Oscar from @TCD_Chemistry
