So yesterday I was thinking about this whole Bubba situation and the fact that he is basically unsupervised. Since I don’t come home from work until around 6 he’s usually out with his friends until his 930 curfew. Haven’t seen him do homework or mention anything about school. Spaz goes to the same elementary school so when he brought home his class pictures and parent conference note, I had asked Bubba where his was.
He had said that he didn’t get the pictures yet that his grade didn’t have parent / teacher conferences.
I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. I really did.
Maybe the 8th graders get their pictures later… maybe because there had been a summit for just the 8th grade parents his school didn’t feel the need to hold individual conferences.
I really did want to believe him… but I know Bubba.
So I emailed his teachers last and found out that YES, he got his pictures. NO, he wasn’t turning in his homework. YES there is a parent conference and YES he did receive the login information to see his grades online.
Nice.
So I tell Chief when I got home and he gave that UH HUH.. HES IN TROUBLE look. He aslo said that Bubba told him he has a progress report :: the he conveniently left in his school bag :: and that he made Student of the Month.
Hard to believe that one when he hasn’t been doing his homework.
I asked Chief what we were going to do about it and he said he didn’t have any idea. I told him that Bubba is WAY too unsupervised and he agreed. Then went on to start talking about an order he has at the shop for Friday.
So tell me? What am I suppose to do? How am I suppose to be virtually a single parent to kids that aren’t mine when their father isn’t taking the lead in disciplining them?
Seriously, let me know.. I am WAY out of my league here
