5K run in Las Vegas!

So, I made a goal to run a 5k while I was here in Las Vegas so that I would force myself to work out and...I did it!! I signed up for a 5k at the Springs Preserve and sponsered by Cirque du Soleil and mom and dad sponsered me. :) Thanks mom and dad! I've been trying to run on the treadmill for the past few months to get ready. This morning I woke up bright and early at 6:45 to get there on time. Whoever really knows me will know that that is a big accomplishment because I am NOT a morning person! Round of applause? Thank you, thank you. haha... Anyways, I went by myself because no one else wanted to go but it was really fun. I didn't come in first but I wasn't running to win the race, but rather I was running to show myself I could do it. I did it in about 37 minutes with walking and running. There were so many people there! There were over 1100 participants. Here is me after the run- I got some nice lady to take a picture of me. :) My number was 692. Don't you just love the guy with the short shorts behind me? hahaha
This is a picture of the band that was there. They had booths with free activities and there was even a massage booth but I didn't do it because the line was to Timbuktoo! Everyone knows something good when they see it!

There were some people with these big butterfly things which I never figured out what they were exactly. They just held them up and moved them around with sticks. Very pretty though.

They also had an area where they would take a picture of you with some Cirque du Soleil members for free and give you the picture with a cover for free. I tell you, some of these people had some interesting costumes! A lot were from a show called Zoomanity but I don't think all of them were. Just by seeing them at the race, I can tell the shows are really...interesting! haha After I got this picture taken I looked at it and thought "why didn't I do something fun like do a weird face or pretend like I was running? All I did was stand there! so lame..." Don't you hate it when you think of these things AFTER the fact? Oh, well- live and learn right? Just pretend that I'm not just standing there but I was trying to be a statue in the show or something...
