It was like a purge – back in July some stroke of LL doom swallowed one of my folders – never to be found again. Not just any folder – it was my CLOTHING folder – 50k of trash and treasure from 9 years in SL: clothes, shoes, jewelry, lingerie, hats, bags, umbrellas and watches …. the lot.

Now when I make up an outfit I need to go shopping.

My shopping trip took me to old haunts (Zaara) and to new ones [VERSOV] – to collect DEMOS!

I love this outfit – it reminds me of some looks from the recent Spring 2017 Ready to Wear Fashion shows. I love the contrasting colors, textures, styles, the meticulous design details, the glam hairdos and sheer craziness of it all.

We can do this every day in Second Life – BUT I don’t.

I change my avie a little, to fit outfits or to achieve a certain ‘costume’, but big changes I only make maybe once a year, or less. I need to feel like me in my avie.

This time the change is into a mesh head, which you would think is no big deal – they have been around so long now that the next step – Bento- is already here. I have joined the ranks of folk who appear as detached floating parts before assembling into something resembling human form. It has felt like a big step for me – but strangely many of my friends didn’t even notice!

These photos were quickly shot in Coastal Afternoon WL setting and cropped – to send in for a casting that I’d left till the last minute.

I’m not one of those people who wakes up and thinks, ‘Bring on the day!’ I have to have about 7 pints of coffee before I’m even remotely awake. Looking back – it’s the photographs we treasure; letting us remember the details – the hours spent dreaming, planning and preparing.

Kay Weston of IMAGE ESSENTIALS has made this great set of pose props to catch our Second Life memories. IE Prom Night Set 1 (featured here) has a silky backdrop with flower lights that really does remind me of Prom Night photo booths set up to catch groups and couples.

There are 4 poses built in (click to sit on the flower urns) and this is the easiest prop to use – giving each person a menu with the option to adjust positions.

This would easily double as a sweet set for engagement or wedding photos.

Recently I had the privilege walking for Marquesse in the Let’s Summer Fashion Show.

This amazingly customizable outfit OSLO has 2 parts – the coat & shorts and the boots. The boot HUD has 5 colors to change boot, sole and laces. The coat and shorts HUD has 5 colors PLUS a color picker – so the coat and shorts can be whatever combination you can dream up.

I chose to keep the boots and coat white and shade the shorts to pick up the pink in this amazing OLD Dragonfly Hair by Boudoir from the 2012 Crazy Hair Hunt.

# 55 Precious

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

In Second Life many people choose to become parents. Parenthood is tricky – in any life, and the support of friends and family helps. My friend Jax has created a beautiful place for families to socialize together.

Precious Families Island….

Families in SL aren’t so different to families in RL. Two people fall in love, and one day their love is expressed by the creation of a child.

That child becomes their whole focus… They love each other still, but now they have this beautiful extension of their love that ‘needs’ them to care for it, love it, pay it attention.

Children teach us about selflessness, as we take on our role of Parenthood.

I created a place in SL called “Precious Families Island” as a celebration of the love couples share here in SL, and the families they create. It is a public place for them to visit, with their children, and spend quality time together.

The island has romantic nooks to explore, beaches to relax on, an area that a group of friends can sit around on pillows and chat, as well as a dance floor which we use to celebrate our Families every week with a weekly party.

I think Precious may be the only place in SL where families come to dance while their babies and children toddle around the dance floor, playing and interacting, among the grown-up’s legs.

A magical place, created to celebrate the dedication of SL parents to their children, to celebrate the love that grows as a family grows, to bring parents together with other parents within SL, and allow them to share their experiences, their knowledge and their stories.

A funny thing is that just like people everywhere – friends who have children make frequent hints and suggestions that Kohn and I should join in the joy and have our own child. It makes me smile and shake my head.
