Deterrent.

This is coolbert:

Please keep in mind that mere registration for the military draft [conscription] and nothing more being considered at this time. I always this was mandated by law anyhow. And as applies to young men only. Induction into the military until further notice not occurring.

A deterrent for peace? A deterrent?

"Playbook for a Military Draft"

From https://original.antiwar.com | Edward Hasbrouck Posted | July 08, 2024.

"A new report released 18 June 2024 by the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) provides a remarkably candid window into the flawed and dangerous thinking of military strategists who support continual 'readiness' for an on-demand military draft, even while they claim — perhaps truthfully — not to prefer a draft, even as Plan B, but only as Plan F for 'Fallback' in case of prolonged total war."

Consider this graphic [Click on image to see an enlarged view]. Force expansion as deemed by conscription to be only implemented in case of a conflict of greater than 180 days!

"Stages of mobilization for war. Image from CNAS report based on Department of Defense mobilization plan. Note the absence of a Congressional declaration of war at any stage up to and including total military mobilization."

"The CNAS report is intended to show supporters of the current bipartisan mainstream U.S. foreign policy and military consensus why the U.S. should step up planning and PREPARATION FOR A DRAFT [my emphasis] as a tool of deterrence. But for those outside that consensus who think current U.S. policy is already bellicose enough, especially those who assume that opposing draft registration and other steps toward readiness for a draft should be a low priority for antiwar activists because the U.S. will never again (or at least not soon) activate a draft, the CNAS report provides an important lesson in how preparedness for a draft is itself a tool of war, even in 'peacetime'."

Please keep in mind that during World War Two young American men conscripted and assigned to a brand-new divisional-sized unit requiring anywhere from eighteen to twenty-four months of training prior to deployment overseas for combat.

"Here's Where American Troops Are Stationed Overseas?"

From https://www.zerohedge.com | BY TYLER DURDEN | JUL 06, 2024.

"With a military budget bigger than most countries’ GDPs, the U.S. military manages to station troops in nearly 170 territories, on every continent in the world."

"But which countries host the most troops? In the chart[s], Visual Capitalist's Pallavi Rao maps the territories where active duty American military personnel are stationed, according to March 2024 figures from the Defense Department."

Click on either image to see an expanded view:

Comments:

* During that era of the Cold War 300,000 American military personnel stationed West Germany.

* That American professional military man has for over a century now been able to practice his trade and craft as no other professional military man has done since the time of the Roman Empire!!

* Troops to include all military personnel of all services. Land/sea/air. U.S Marines count as a cross of land/sea/air?

* Excluding Guam, from the graphic NATO deployments ≈ 46 %. For bilateral defense treaty agreements with South Korea and Japan the number ≈ 54 % combined.

Anyone have a problem with any of this? Treaty arrangements are treaty arrangements!

Nehls.

This is coolbert:

"present and actively engaging or being engaged by the enemy and performing satisfactorily in accordance with prescribed rules of engagement"

CIB = Combat Infantryman Badge.

Not stolen valor. A mere paperwork error and nothing more?

"Troy Nehls ineligible for military badge, Army confirms"

From https://www.washingtonexaminer.com | By Cami Mondeaux | June 24, 2024.

"Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) has not qualified for the military pin that he proudly wears on his suit jacket despite repeatedly claiming the Army was mistaken for rescinding the badge, according to the congressman’s service record."

"Nehls has received backlash from some other House members for wearing a Combat Infantryman Badge despite an investigation from CBS News that found the pin was revoked from his military record in 2023. Nehls has repeatedly claimed the Army 'got it wrong' and that he did qualify for the distinction — but the Army confirmed to NOTUS that he was not eligible."

"Nehls was given the award after serving as a civil affairs officer in Afghanistan with the 101st Airborne Division in 2008, which later awarded him the infantryman badge. But that designation was a mistake, according to Army standards."

This fellow indeed eligible for the Combat Action Badge but NOT the CIB. Perfectly clear.

Award of the CIB due to clerical error? Congressman Nehls might reasonably have believed his decoration of the CIB was 100 % warranted. No shame on his account.

This is coolbert:

The American military man [ex-military I presume] acting badly. Very badly to say the least.

Rogue American soldier [a mercenary] using his military training and skills. A bomber-maker for the Mexican drug cartels.

Innocent of charges until found guilty in a court of law I must remind!

"EXCLUSIVE: U.S. Soldier Charged with Building Bombs for the Gulf Cartel in Mexico"

From https://www.breitbart.com | ILDEFONSO ORTIZ and BRANDON DARBY | 25 Jun 2024.

"Mexican authorities arrested a former U.S. soldier who had allegedly been building explosives for the Gulf Cartel just south of the Texas border. The arrest had been kept largely under wraps as federal authorities built up the case against him, as he stands accused of manufacturing land mines and other explosives."

"Breitbart Texas confirmed with sources from Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office that in May, a group of federal officers arrested William Louis Anhert in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas. The arrest came during a raid at a camp used by the Escorpiones faction of the Gulf Cartel. During that raid, authorities arrested several Gulf Cartel gunmen and seized various explosive devices and components."

Details about the villain [assuming he is one] not made public. I can almost guarantee this individual some sort of Special Operations troop or EOD operator. EOD = Explosive Ordnance Disposal.

If found guilty after fair trial this man deservedly will receive harsh punishment. He made a hard bed and will have to sleep on it.

Higher gear not high enough!

"General Dynamics' New 155-Millimeter Shell Factory Opens As War Cycle Kicks Into Higher Gear"

From https://www.zerohedge.com | BY TYLER DURDEN | JUN 01, 2024 |  https://tinyurl.com/v7hamtbp

"General Dynamics' new 155-millimeter artillery shell factory in Mesquite, Texas, is set to produce 30,000 shells per month, according to a New York Times report. This will provide crucial support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the first and second lines and bring the US Army closer to its 100,000 shell target goal by 2025. However, this goal remains far behind Russia's current 155mm shell production capacity of 250,000 rounds per month."

[. . . .]

"Shell factories in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, currently produce about 36,000 155mm shells per month. Once the Mesquite plant reaches its full capacity of 30,000 shells per month, the US Army will be closer to achieving its goal of 100,000 shells per month by 2025."

The Ukrainian army per month firing off about 150,000 155 mm rounds per month. Ukrainian expenditure of ammunition 50 % greater than the entire American capacity even with maximum production having been reached [not until 2025].

Everybody keep in mind that the highly industrialized American economy as it existed in 1941 gone forever it seems, never to come back. Arsenal of Democracy USA is not now!

Chechens USA.

This is coolbert:

“'Two Chechen men who spoke broken English were found near the [Colonel’s] home' and one of them, 35-year-old Ramzan Daraev, was allegedly taking photos of the Colonel’s children, according to FOX News"

The Chechen boys arrive USA? A recce mission! Intimidation the goal? Hot off the presses.

"U.S. Army Colonel Reportedly Shoots Alleged Chechen Intruder Dead"

"A U.S. Army Colonel reportedly shot and killed an alleged Chechen intruder outside the Colonel’s residence just north of Fort Liberty, formerly Fort Bragg, in North Carolina."

"The incident occurred May 3, 2024, but the details of the shooting were reported May 22 and 23, 2024."

"The Colonel confronted Daraev [the now departed], an altercation ensued, and Daraev was shot multiple times."

[. . . .]

"CBS17 noted the Colonel who shot Daraev is a member of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command."

In truth this all sounds very peculiar to me. What person wanders around a military facility taking pictures of the children of a high ranking American military office? Fort Liberty [Bragg] as far as I know an open post too. People can enter the grounds of the facility and roam rather freely without normally being challenged

OH my brother! I am looking right at you OH my brother!

Problematic.

This is coolbert:

Even Winslow Homer!  Forbidden! Banned! Anathem!

"Why Did Google Ban Winslow Homer?"

Strauss-Schulson, speaking to me from Millburn, New Jersey, tells me she was 'flabbergasted' when she got an alert that Google—her site is optimized for the search engine, meaning would-be buyers are shown her products in their results—had flagged a small sketch of a Confederate soldier by the artist Winslow Homer as [problematic] 'dangerous or derogatory content.'”

OH, I get it. A wartime sketch art of a captured Confederate soldier might suggest to some an approval of the secessionists during the American Civil War. Absurd! Image has been red-flagged.

Devoted readers to the blog need to read the entire article for themselves. Draw you own conclusion.

This is coolbert:

Bad news Gaza! Gaza of course for a goodly number of months now bad news! Unmitigated!

"Pentagon: Aid has not been successfully delivered to Gazans in need"

"Distribution efforts have been severely hampered by crowds of desperate Palestinians intercepting the trucks once they leave the loading area"

Food aid for Gaza via the JLOTS pier received Gaza, but distribution not working. Those most in need not getting the desired amount of aid.

From https://www.i24news.tv | i24NEWS | May 22, 2024 | https://tinyurl.com/yteaazsx

"The Pentagon has confirmed that none of the 569 tons of humanitarian aid that recently arrived at a U.S.-built pier in the Gaza Strip has been formally distributed."

"According to a Defense Department spokesperson, although some of the aid has been transported to warehouses, the distribution efforts have been severely hampered by crowds of desperate Palestinians intercepting the trucks once they leave the loading area."

Indeed, this is what I was afraid of all along. Like with the parachute drops of food aid, a mob scene and a atmosphere of every-man-for-himself prevailing. No organized collection and equitable distribution.

Evidently planning with local Gazan residents scant to none! Surely this bodes very poorly on all parties involved. American, Israeli, Gaza authority to whatever exists if any! All have fallen down.

Bad! Very bad! I am sure this could have been easily anticipated but was not evidently!

"Cpl. Gage Barbieri, now 21, received the Meritorious Service Medal on Friday from Col. Damon Burrows, commanding officer of 2nd Marine Division’s Headquarters Battalion. Barbieri is only the second Marine corporal to receive the Meritorious Service Medal since at least 2008"

"While serving as the Marine Corps’ representative to Oshkosh Defense as it revised its technical manuals for the joint light tactical vehicle, Barbieri pointed out flaws in the manuals, including one issue that could lead to rollovers."

"Barbieri’s engineering acumen would save more than 900,000 person-hours of maintenance production time and more than $140 million throughout the entire life cycle of the platform, the Corps calculated."

Corporal Barbieri has reward for a job well-done rather meager and sparse. The man deserves much more. Financial compensation of some sort his due? Similar to the "whistleblower reward" as deemed. No criminality here involved but nonetheless some sort of appreciation well merited.

"Whistleblowers can receive up to 30% of the recovered funds.

"Soldiers with the 10th Mountain Division recently completed an unprecedented 550-mile [nearly 900 kilometers] road trip across Norway, Sweden and Finland in which troops dealt with long-distance logistics, local laws and infrastructure regulations. SCAAP.

This is coolbert:

A coincidence. That is all this is, isn't? And at the worst possible moment too.

Merely accidental/fate/fluke/happening/incident?

"U.K.’s Only Munitions Factory Explodes, Just Days After U.S. Army Ammunition Factory Catches Fires in Scranton, PA"

From Gateway Pundit ^ | Apr. 20, 2024 | By Anthony Scott | the tip from Freeper.

"The United Kingdom’s lone munitions filing factory exploded on Wednesday, just two days after a fire erupted at the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania. As The Gateway Pundit previously reported on April 15th, the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant (SCAAP), the United States’ primary producer of 155mm artillery shell bodies, caught fire. Just two days later, on April 17th, a section of the United Kingdom’s lone munition factory exploded after a single shell went off inside the factory."

Fevered efforts, ramped-up production of 155 mm artillery rounds now stymied? USA and Britain both and more or less at the same time.

Lack of 155 mm rounds well noted and has been for some time. Don't expect miracles for both the Ukraine, Israel, or even USA troops in a vital situation. Weapons and munitions production neither cheap or easily done the manufacture again at a ramped-up level.

These two events are going to raise some eyebrows in some quarters? I might not just to believe so but hope so!

"Active Duty Airman on White House Hunger Strike Against Starvation of Children in Gaza"

https://www.antiwar.com | by Gerry Condon |  April 3, 2024.

"An active-duty Air Force airman is on a hunger strike in front of the White House, in solidarity with the children of Gaza, who are being deliberately starved to death."

The man is an active duty airman and apparently is absent without leave [AWOL].

"Larry Hebert, a Senior Airman with six years in the Air Force, began his hunger strike at the White House on Easter Sunday. He says he will be present at the White House from 10 am to 3 pm, April 1-6, and will then move to the House of Representatives, beginning Monday, April 8, when Congress is back in session."

Picketing the White House while AWOL it would not surprise me if the FBI or military police will just show up and whisk the airman away for judicial punishment. This remains to be seen!

Alias.

This is coolbert:

"The investigation drew extensive media attention for spotlighting a history of loose prescribing practices and poor controls of powerful drugs including opioids in the White House Medical Unit, a military outfit that attends to the president, vice president, and others in the White House compound."

Call me Ishmael!

Jump the line!

"jump the line: English - Verb - (US) To skip to the head of a queue without waiting for one's turn."

"Washington elite received free healthcare from the military by using aliases"

FEATURED | WIB | POLITICS | March 15, 2024 | Staff Writer.

"Top U.S. officials in the Washington area have received preferential treatment from a little-known health care program run by the military, potentially jeopardizing care for other patients including active-duty service members, according to Pentagon investigators."

"White House officials, senior military and other national security leaders, retired military officers, and family members have all benefited. The Washington elite could jump the line when filling prescriptions, book appointments through special call centers, and receive choice parking spots and escorts at military hospitals and other facilities, including Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, according to the Pentagon’s inspector general."

"Through a unit at the White House, government personnel were routinely allowed to receive treatment under aliases, providing no home address or insurance information. For some of them, the care was free, as Walter Reed had no way to bill for it or waived charges."

From my perspective line-jumping here not the most egregious offense.

Consider drugs to include OPIOIDS obtained by persons in high-ranking governmental positions [to include military officials] gotten by persons using an ALIAS to be a more severe violation?

Think also the recent hospitalization of the American SECEF Austin. Done under circumstances warranting a degree of suspicion.

Bias.

This is coolbert:

Yet one more instance of the American military man behaving badly! A bias-based crime as referred to!

"Two soldiers arrested on charges of stealing Pride flags from a queer couple’s home"

"Michelle Logan and Jenna Burnett of Arlington, Va., said five Pride flags were stolen from outside their house from September to January."

From https://www.nbcnews.com   |  By Isabela Espadas Barros Leal  |  Feb. 7, 2024.

"Two men have been arrested in the theft of LGBTQ Pride flags from outside a queer couple’s home in Arlington, Virginia, over several months."

"Matthew Henshaw, 20, was arrested and charged in three of the five thefts that occurred from September to January; he was charged with three counts of bias-motivated unlawful entry and three counts of petit larceny, the Arlington County Police Department said in a statement Friday. Joseph Digregorio, 23, was charged with one count of petit larceny in connection with one of the thefts."

"The men are both active members of the U.S. Army with the 3rd Infantry Regiment, also known as the Old Guard, a spokesperson for the Army told NBC Washington."

Old Guard personnel held to the highest-level of comportment on/off duty as possible. Seen as representative soldiers of the U.S. Army, rarely glimpsed by the lay-public citizenry.

Bias-based crimes can often result in a 3X degree of punishment. Instead of one year in jail you might get three years in prison!

I venture this sergeant in for some big time punishment. Years long scheme! Lots wrong here!

Valid/Invalid.

This is coolbert:

#1 The Russo-Ukrainian War I refer to as the Ukraine Conflict.

#2 Hamas-Israel War. From this moment forward, I will refer to as the Gazan War.

Thanks here from the www.dupuyinstitute.org several articles by Christopher A. Lawrence, casualty figures both wars, estimates/guesstimates based upon assumptions that you can assume are partially valid/invalid.

1. "The Russo-Ukrainian War – Day 699"

 From https://www.dupuyinstitute.org | Christopher A. Lawrence | 23 January 2024.

"Assuming a 4-to-1 wounded-to-killed ratio (which is an assumption, it could be higher, it is probably not much lower), then:

* Russian: 84,568 killed and 338,272 wounded.

* Ukraine: 63,426 killed and 253,704 wounded."

See previous blog entry based upon United Kingdom estimates/guesstimates total casualties, the Russian side, Ukraine conflict about 500,000 casualties total and about 100,000 dead, very close as to what the estimate/guesstimates valid or invalid based upon the assumptions of Stephen Lawrence.

2. "Losses in the Hamas-Israel War – Day 111"

From https://www.dupuyinstitute.org | Christopher A. Lawrence | 25 January 2024.

* "Total losses for the Israeli armed forces during the offensive into Gaza is 219 (as of 22 January)."

This figure only for Israeli ground forces in the aftermath of events has transpired, seven October 2023.

* "Hamas’ actual losses are harder to gauge. Israel is claiming that they have killed about 9,000 Hamas fighters in Gaza along with more than 1,000 killed during the attacks on 7 October."

Going to be very hard for the Israeli to calculate the number of Hamas dead with any sort of real accuracy. I might  suppose many Hamas fighters buried under rubble will never be exhumed or uncovered. Many Hamas fighters also buried alive in collapsed underground tunnels as a result of aerial bombardment direct hits. Israeli figures predominantly estimate/guesstimate?

* "Israel is estimating that as many at 16,000 Hamas have been wounded. The U.S. estimates between 10,500 to 11,700 wounded. This produces some unusually low wounded-to-killed ratios."

Yes, indeed, that wounded to kill ratio very unusually low! Normally that ratio quite correctly and reasonably is usually calculated at 4 to 1. Maybe 3 to 1 furthermore quite ballpark.

See additionally the CV curriculum vitae of Trevor Depuy. A very distinguished American military officer of the Second World War not even having reached the age of 30 years he had already commanded American and allied combat units of considerable size and did so in a very respectable and honorable manner. I cannot but help to be impressed.

"Dupuy attended West Point, graduating in the class of 1938. During World War II he commanded a U.S. Army artillery battalion, a Chinese artillery group, and an artillery detachment from the British 36th Infantry Division."

Austin DoD.

This is coolbert:

Short and sweet, succinct, terse, to the point.

Secretary Austin, American DoD in the hospital for surgery, prostate cancer and suffering further complications from infection causing extended hospital stay and treatment in intensive care unit ICU.

"Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin treated for prostate cancer, developed severe infection, Pentagon reveals"

From CNBC ^ | 1/9/23 | Rebecca Picciotto.

"Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been hospitalized since Jan. 1 for complications following a surgery to treat prostate cancer, officials at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center said Tuesday. The news of Austin’s treatment and condition came after a torturous week during which Austin was hospitalized, but the Pentagon refused to say why. Austin underwent the initial prostate cancer surgery on Dec. 25, during which he was under general anesthesia"

Very strange indeed however that President Biden and the Deputy Secretary of defense were not notified about any of this, either the surgery, or the extended hospitalization. Normally a man [Austin] of his stature and understanding having been under general anesthesia would be very closely guarded and monitored.

NCA USA ICU.

This is coolbert:

Scandalous? The American national command authority NCA has been compromised, not able to function if necessary? I do not know what this all means. May be a big nothing, but I am not sure.

Secretary of Defense, USA, Austin in the hospital for a surgical procedure of an undetermined nature the President of United States not even knowing about this. One of the four men in the loop was not able to perform his duties if necessary.

"White House Wasn't Aware For Days That Defense Secretary Austin Was Hospitalized"

From www.zerohedge.com | BY TYLER DURDEN | JAN 06, 2024.

"Earlier throughout the day there were significant rumors that Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin has been in the hospital for days, and no one knew it... surprisingly even at the White House, apparently—and at a moment the US is embroiled in running conflicts and proxy wars from Ukraine to the Middle East."

I can fully understand why the man Austin Secretary of Defense USA  was in the hospital, but I cannot fully understand at all 100% why the President was not briefed about this in advance. This is supposedly an elective surgical procedure that Austin had but I also noticed that Austin is described as being in the ICU intensive care unit.

"This is a worrisome development which has huge implications for the Biden administration and White House competency and issues of transparency. Not only has Austin's hospitalization now been confirmed, but CNN is reporting late Saturday that President Biden was in the dark almost the whole time"

The National Command Authority (United States) as is my understanding consists of four persons, the President USA, Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State, and the national security advisor, USA.

These are the four people that will make the final decision do use atomic weapons if needed and DEEMED as necessary.

From the wiki entry:

"National Command Authority (NCA) is a term that was used by the Department of Defense of the United States to refer to the ultimate source of lawful military orders."

"The term also refers to communications with the commanding officers of the Unified Combatant Commands to put U.S. forces into action."

See YouTube video with narration by Palki Sharma:

"Reports say that the Central African Republic's president, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, has been in talks with the American Bancroft Group for months. The Bancroft Group is a US Mercenary Company like Russia's Wagner PMC. Wagner has been working with the C.A.R. for years. A senior Wagner official was recently seen in the C.A.R. after years. Is Wagner worried that Bancroft will take over? Palki Sharma tells you."

This Robert Rougé has been the topic of a much prior blog entry from the year 2011. Now more apropos than ever.
