I am writing this blog at the apple store while I am waiting to be seen for my iphone that is broken every other day. It great being across the country and not being able to call anyone! I am fully convinced that I curse any electronic device that I touch. I think people are looking at me weird because I am on a PC in the apple store.

I thought I would write a little bit about how my internship is going and how I am adjusting to California. I think that a lot of people have a perception of Hollywood or the area I am living in because everything they hear and read in Magazines. Hollywood could not be further from the glitz and glam- It is differently city living. I live 3 miles from Hollywood, so I am able to get away from the craziness but its still a bit rough around the edges around my place too. The thing that gets me is all the bums- I think I have a sign on my back that say “please ask me for money because I am too scared to say no”!

I have been out here for just about a month now and I really have mixed feelings. If you ask me mom, everyday it is either I hate it or I like it (not love it) haha. But one thing I do LOVE is the fashion out here- it is incredible. If I could bottle the fashion up and take it back to Florida; I would in a minute, well that is because I miss being so close to the beach. And of course the shopping is amazing too.

I don’t regret anything that happened with my first internship but I don’t think I am done considering styling as a whole. The situations I was put into when I was working with the celebrity stylist was not what I expected but I defiantly am not going to cross styling of my list forever. I think one of the major problems with the styling industry right now and a lot of the fashion industry is the horrible economy. Just like everywhere else, everyone is really feeling it out here and I think it was not the best time to test the waters. In general, Hollywood is dead right now. Stylists that were making around $10,000 for a day shoot of let’s say a CD cover, are now making around $1,000.

Soooo right now I am working for a Fashion PR firm. We work with the designers to get there products out into the media, on celebrities and in the public eye. The firm is also a showroom, so we have all the garments from the designer’s current collections. We help plan events and fashion shows, we do out reaching to celebrities and publications. Also stylists come in and borrow clothes from the showroom for celebrity clients or editorial shoots. We also send out garments to magazines all over the place for fashion spreads or shots. When the stylist come into the showroom to do pulls, I always start thinking about if I made the right decision with quitting my first internship but I still have a lot of time to think about what I want to do and I will meet a lot of good contacts with this internship as well.

To tell you the truth- I have a deep love for fashion or maybe it’s an obsession but I really never thought that I had to guts to up and move out to LA. My brother didn’t think I was going to do it until the day I actually left. And I miss my family everyday but I think it is making me stronger everyday that I am out here. I have seen some crazy stuff that I never thought I would see with my two eyes but I am going to see where this adventure is going to take me, even if it isn’t going exactly how I planned it would go:)

First off- If I see one more guy that is dressed as a girl, I think I am going to die. I was walking into work the other day and I hear someone yell “ It’s a Man”, so I look up and this man was strutting his stuff harder than Tyra Banks on the cat walk, dressed as a women. I really just had to let out a loud laugh. Maybe it is a common thing in LA to cross dress- who knows? That same day, they were filming a movie in front of where I work and I ran into Wilmer… (the guy from That 70’s show). He is really short- I had heals on and we were the same height.

So I ended up quitting my first internship with the celebrity stylist and starting working at the Fashion PR firm. Things were not going well with the stylist, so I decided not to waste my time stressing over it. Everything is going well at the PR firm but it is verrrry busy because LA fashion week is coming up shortly. I really hope Lauren Conrad is appreciating all this slave work I am doing for her fashion show hahaha.

Here is some pictures that I have taken here and there.
This picture below is a deadly spider that hangs out on our pouch. I don't want to slap at it and then it get in the apartment but it is to big to kill, so for the mean time it is just building a bigger web. (Brad and Pat- if you saw this spider, you would have been at the top of the Moutain screaming for Sam to come kill it)
Here is a couple of picture from going out

I look a bit sleepy, prob. because it is way passed my bedtime haha. People don't even go out until 11 here and apparently stay out all night long.
I went down to New Port again the other day to see my friend Jenny and we went shopping (of course) and to Huntington Beach. I wanted to see some Hot surfer boys-JK! But it is entertaining to watch people try to surf. Just take a look at this picture below- I think someone took a bit of a fall

HOW FUNNY IS THAT PICTURE!

In the picture below- Look at tha haze! Cali's air is soooo nasty! You can't even see down the beach

I took a trip down to Santa Monica to go Roller blading! My roommate was working today, so I decided to go down there to get some exercise and relax. I can't use my roller blades by my apartment because the hills and I feel like it would be a death wish going downhill. I started by the pier in Santa Monica and headed north to Venice Beach. There is a night and day difference between the two beach atmospheres and the type of people that are around. I feel like such a little explorer!

This is the Outdoor Gym at the Beach

While I was on my little roller adventure, I saw Surfer boys, people practicing Volleyball, and many people doing different types of work outs. Ohh yeah- and lots of homeless people, but I guess I would live at the beach if I didn’t have a home.

I would get a little confused when the signs said Bikes only, I didn't know if that meant the roller bladers were suppose to go on the other path. whoooo knows. Sometimes sand would pop up on the path and I was scared it was going to pull a fast one on my wheels and make me go flying, so I had to be extra careful!

I ended up changing my background because my Aunt Gretchen and Marianne said it was too hard to read, so hopefully this is easier on the eyes. Ila and I went down to Manhattan beach on our day off. We ended up in Hermosa beach and then drove our way down to Manhattan.

I think I will always pick Sieta Key(Florida beach) over any beach but it was still nice to see the water. The water was super cold and dark, which was to scary looking to go pee in! You know how I am with fish and not being able to see where I am stepping in the water.
This is a picture from the top of the beach that shows the houses that line the beach. You can also see the sidewalk; I guess that is what you call it. I think it goes up and down all the beaches for the bikers and roller bladders. And you really have to watch for them- speaking from experience.

There was a Pro Volleyball tournament going on, so it was pretty busy down there. We actually meet two nice guys down there in the tournament that we might go back and watch on Saturday

After sitting on the beach for a bit we went into the little town and got some pizza. We each got two pieces and sat down- then this guy looks at us and goes are you each going to eat two pieces and we both go yeaaa. He then asked if we were playing in the tournment and if that is why we were so hungry and we had to politly tell him no again. I mean, he must have not noticed that I am borderline midget. I guess people in cali really don't eat much! But booooy was that pizza good !

And after a day of fun, I had to come home to looking at this in the mirror. You would have thought that I learned from living in Florida for three years and I actually did have sunblock on.

My first week

I am writing this post by the pool on my day off, so I thought I would add a little picture. It gets into the mid 90's during the day because I live in the Valley but down to the high 60's at night, which is good so I can wear cute coats!

My first week went by very fast because I felt like I never stopped working. When people tell you that everything is fast past in LA, you don't realize it until you actually live here. I am used to Florida pace where people move like turtles. And the driving out here is downright insane- forget being a defensive driver, its aggressive driving or nothing. I always think about my neighbor Jennifer from Florida when I am driving because she is one of those 5mph under and she gets so flustered with fast driver, I think she would die out here. The second you sit at a green light you will have 5 people honking at you.

My first day of work was shopping for a pop singer named Roxy whose target market is Japan. It isn't normal for a stylist to get money to spend on their clients, so it was a fun experience. All the clothing that was picked out was used for a photo shoot on Wednesday.

So Tuesday was a whole day of going to showrooms that represent different designers and we did pulls. Pulls are when you borrow clothing and if the garment makes it into the shot, the designers will receive credits for it. We went all over LA doing pulls for Roxy and the FHM shoot on Thursday.

On Wednesday I assisted on my first photo shoot for the artist Roxy. It was in downtown LA in the photographer’s loft, everything went really well.
Roxy and I @ the Shoot after a long day

Just a couple of pics from the shoot
Patrick is an amazing Hairstylist- He does Camern Electra's Hair

Thursday was another photo shoot right in Hollywood at an amazing restaurant/lounge called Onesunset. Two of the girls from the group called the pussycat dolls were being featured in FHM. This shoot was a bit different from the day before because this was all lingerie. Everything went well and the girls were soo nice but it was a very long day. There was a traffic jam and it took me 50 minutes from my apartment in the morning to get to the set and it was only 5 miles away. Ohh I can’t even explain the traffic out here!

Friday was just all returns to the Showrooms. But Friday night we went out with some girls from Redlight PR, which is the internship I am doing for the second part that I am out here. They invited us to a party in the hills that was showing off a new house that was just redesigned. I felt like we were driving straight up the Mountain forever, probably because her house was at the top and it looked over Hollywood. And this girl was only 25 and living in a 14 million dollar house, No big deal- right? Anyways we meet a lot of Jenny’s Friends and they were super nice and we are going out again this weekend!!
Saturday I went down to meet my Friend Jenny that lives in Newport Beach and went drove down to Laguna Beach and ate at a Mexican restaurant on the beach. The show Laguna Beach does no justice for the town, it is so cute!!

My roommate and I are just kind of exploring and trying to learn where everything is. I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing but people can tell that we are not from here because we don’t have the “bitch attitude”. Twice now, people have asked if I was visiting or if I live here because they claim I am too nice. Isn’t that funny! It is taking a bit to get used to city living and I still get a little scared sometimes but I am getting into the grove more and more everyday!

The Big Move!

I finally moved to LA! It seems like I have been waiting for this FOREVER. Here is some pictures of Ila and I's apartment and I will be posting ssome stories from my first week out here later on today.

We live in Toluca Lake, which is right in between West Hollywood and Burbank. We are right on the otherside of that Mountain. that has the HOLLYWOOD sign. I feel really safe where we live and it is close enough to where we work in West Hollywood but far enough away to get away from the craziness at night.

We basically live on a mountain- I get winded walking up the hill to my car or the pool sometimes (dad - I promise I am not that out of shapehaha) but what is really funny is watching me try to walk in Heels in our parking lot. And when I pull up to slide my card to get into the gates, I have to have my foot on the break and the excel orator or I roll back down the hill.

We are surrounded the all the studios which is neat until it is traffic time and it is a parking lot around here. We look over the WB studios- this is a picture of the left side of our porch

This is the view off the otherside of our porch

Bathroom Area
Our closets Our beds. Yes- Dormroom Style

Here is a picture of my Car dad- I love it! It does good going up the big Hills
Sam I wanted to show you these
Overall- The place is very small but it does the job that we need for right now. Well besides the cable situation- they claim we have cable but we have maybe 20 chanels and they won't let us get anymore:(

California

I finally moved to LA! When my mom and I first arrived in LA, we drove down to San Diego to see her cousin Karen and her family. We had a great time and got to see a lot in a short amount of time and it is so absoutly beautiful down there. But on our way down we stopped in New Port beach to visit my friend Jenny. I met her at school in Florida and then she moved out here about a year ago for school, while her husband was training but now in December she is moving back to Florida ;(
Some of the amazing houses on the PCH in NewPort or Laguana Beach

Jenny took us for a little tour down by her and down the PCH into Laguna Beach. We went on this Island called Balboa Island and it was the cutest thing I have ever seen. It was little doll houses with picket fences- all within walking distance of the ocean. It was very hilly and I think this was one of the pictures going down, I was in too much shock to get any pictures of the houses haha

Driving down the PCH One of the Beach towns on PCH

San Diego Beach
I look like a hot mess but my mom looks Gorgeous - San Diego

My mom and her cousin Karen

This was a mall in San Diego- A lot of malls in Cali are outdoors like this

My mom was obsessed with these seals or whatever they are called. I believe we were in La Jolla at a beach called The Children’s Beach

I am not too good at taking pictures but some of the other places we visited besides San Diego were Corona del mar, Old town and Downtown San Diego, Mission Bay, Huntington Beach, La Jolla and a bunch of beach towns that I don’t remember

This was just a picture from the pier in Santa Monica. When my mom and I made it back to the LA area, I took her around a bit. We went down to Santa Monica to the pier, 3rd street, Rodeo and Beverly Drive, Melrose, Robertson and Sunset. Well pretty much all shopping streets haha I was trying to show her a bit of LA Fashion because believe it or not she understands my fashion nonsense- Crazy, I know! Ohh yeah and Paris Hilton and her Boyfriend cut us off when we were waiting for a pedestrian to cross the street- but the real problem was when we went to trun after them, the Paparazzi cut us off!
