I thought I would write a little bit about how my internship is going and how I am adjusting to California. I think that a lot of people have a perception of Hollywood or the area I am living in because everything they hear and read in Magazines. Hollywood could not be further from the glitz and glam- It is differently city living. I live 3 miles from Hollywood, so I am able to get away from the craziness but its still a bit rough around the edges around my place too. The thing that gets me is all the bums- I think I have a sign on my back that say “please ask me for money because I am too scared to say no”!
I have been out here for just about a month now and I really have mixed feelings. If you ask me mom, everyday it is either I hate it or I like it (not love it) haha. But one thing I do LOVE is the fashion out here- it is incredible. If I could bottle the fashion up and take it back to Florida; I would in a minute, well that is because I miss being so close to the beach. And of course the shopping is amazing too.
I don’t regret anything that happened with my first internship but I don’t think I am done considering styling as a whole. The situations I was put into when I was working with the celebrity stylist was not what I expected but I defiantly am not going to cross styling of my list forever. I think one of the major problems with the styling industry right now and a lot of the fashion industry is the horrible economy. Just like everywhere else, everyone is really feeling it out here and I think it was not the best time to test the waters. In general, Hollywood is dead right now. Stylists that were making around $10,000 for a day shoot of let’s say a CD cover, are now making around $1,000.
Soooo right now I am working for a Fashion PR firm. We work with the designers to get there products out into the media, on celebrities and in the public eye. The firm is also a showroom, so we have all the garments from the designer’s current collections. We help plan events and fashion shows, we do out reaching to celebrities and publications. Also stylists come in and borrow clothes from the showroom for celebrity clients or editorial shoots. We also send out garments to magazines all over the place for fashion spreads or shots. When the stylist come into the showroom to do pulls, I always start thinking about if I made the right decision with quitting my first internship but I still have a lot of time to think about what I want to do and I will meet a lot of good contacts with this internship as well.
To tell you the truth- I have a deep love for fashion or maybe it’s an obsession but I really never thought that I had to guts to up and move out to LA. My brother didn’t think I was going to do it until the day I actually left. And I miss my family everyday but I think it is making me stronger everyday that I am out here. I have seen some crazy stuff that I never thought I would see with my two eyes but I am going to see where this adventure is going to take me, even if it isn’t going exactly how I planned it would go:)

While I was on my little roller adventure, I saw Surfer boys, people practicing Volleyball, and many people doing different types of work outs.
