Leaf litter

Sheerness, England. 2022

Must stop looking around the internet at photographic equipment!

I found a rare Lomography Jupiter 3+ 50mm f/1.5 Art Lens which was a updated version of the 50mm f/1.5 Jupiter 3 lens which was a Zeiss Sonnar copy. I say rare, as it turns out KMZ Zenit and Lomography only produced 500 units in 2016 and mine is serial number 000495. Very well made and solid feeling lens, although somewhat lighter than the Summilux 50mm (my main bugbear with that Leica lens is being so heavy!) and it’s a joy to use. This lens is a M39 thread mount and comes M mount adapter in the box. Very smooth focusing, step less aperture but does come the typical Russian filter size of 40.5mm.

My example was in mint condition, for £340 ~ $383, complete as the image above.

This shot was taken on Fomapan 100 Classic film wide open at f/1.5 on my Leica MP with a KMZ yellow filter.

Before anyone asks, yes the post was leaning over. The pavement is on a bit of a slope, even the lamp post is leaning on the street corner.

Night before

Bright sunny morning and I came across this bench with the empty bottle and can from the night before. There is something to be said for empty streets during this lockdown for photographers, it’s either easy to find shots like the one below or harder because you work to a image that is going to work for you.

Against the wall

I took this image sometime last month but had not got around to using it. I had looked at this tree many times and thought there is a shot there but just couldn’t get the composition right until sun was at a low angle between the buildings opposite.

Yakky Yak

Continuing on the theme of dogs on the street. Deauville in Normandie. Spotted this little fellow on the Rue Désiré le Hoc, looking thoroughly bored to tears as he or she owner was gassing away to someone else on the street.

Autumn

Wet Sunday morning and the first leaves have started to come down for autumn. This image has been chosen by my wife Helen. She didn’t like the picture looking down into a puddle at a single leaf, with the reflection of the trees behind, so this image it has to be.

Unfortunately this will be the last picture taken with my Leica for quite sometime. It has developed a problem which I think might be shutter related, so back to the repairers again.

Taken on a Leica M4-2, Summicron 50mm f/2 lens on Kodak Tri-X film rated at ISO 800.

Paws & feet

Deauville in France again. While my wife was having a conversation with this lady on the street corner, I was amused of how her two greyhounds where standing around their owners shadow on the pavement.
