What remains

I hadn’t been to Dungeness for some years now and was quite shocked at how much of the old fishing boats and equipment has been destroyed by vandals. Many of the old wooden boats and shacks have been burnt down which is a real shame. A popular spot with photographers and film makers alike, the area no longer holds a charm like it once did.

I last took a picture of the old fishing boat in 2018 which you can see here.

This all that remains of the old tidal paddling pool. I have seen an old black and white photograph taken around the 1950s but for the life of me I cannot find it to share here. There is so much has disappeared from Sheerness over the years, the town is a shadow of it’s former self.

I’ve shot this drainage ditch before in my image ‘Stake‘ but I feel this picture is by far better. This time I was stuck by the stake pointing up to the bright patch of sunlight in the sky.

You maybe wondering why the title of this image. In post, while doing a little dodge and burn I noticed this gentleman’s umbrella is in fact a child’s one with cartoon Dinosaurs all over it. Funny how you don’t see these things when you take a shot.

Sorry, I know another corny title. Shot at an aperture of f/2.8, I like this shot not only because of the detail in the old tyre and beach but I was lucky enough to capture the sea in shadow from a passing cloud.

Taken on my Leica MP, with the Jupiter 3+ 50mm f/1.5 lens plus yellow filter on Fomapan 100 Classic film.
