Broken reflection

Minster on Sea, England. 2026

I took this shot mainly because I was taken how the reflection was braking with the movement of the water.

Don’t think I’ve ever used my Jupiter -8 50mm lens on the Leica before. I still think despite the Lomography Jupiter 3+ 50mm f/1.5 being faster, personally I feel the Jupiter -8 is a better all rounder. If you ever use one of these lenses, I’ve found for landscape photography they are best shot at f/11 using hyperfocal distance. Apertures f/16 to f/22 for landscape and you will find the detail in the images will look soft. Wide open, I can’t fault either of the Jupiter lenses.

Misty lake

Minster on Sea, England. 2022

Haven’t post anything in the last few weeks due to, you guess it, yet more treatment in hospital. But we’re finally getting somewhere and things are looking up.

This a crop and I think it works. I quite liked the image when I shot it but some how with a big white sky and flat water in the foreground, the picture was lost. Click on the image to enlarge, think you’ll agree it’s not bad picture now.

Calm

Minster on Sea, England. January 2025

A bitterly cold, dull morning, with mist just lifting. The Nikkormat viewfinder kept steaming up everytime I raise it to my eye, so framing was a challenge. Wasn’t too sure I’d got the exposure quite right either and the negative does look around a half to a full stop out. Managed to correct it in post with Gimp and I’m pleased with the resulting image despite not quite nailing the exposure.

Ditch

Barton’s Point Coastal Park, Minster on Sea, England. 2024

I’ve shot this drainage ditch before in my image ‘Stake‘ but I feel this picture is by far better. This time I was stuck by the stake pointing up to the bright patch of sunlight in the sky.
