MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan Gets Basic Facts Wrong on DHS Content Moderation Partners

NOTE: MSNBC is a fount of lies and false accusations.

MSNBC pundit Mehdi Hasan, in a series of tweets over the last five days, has repeatedly claimed that Matt Taibbi “deliberately & under oath misrepresented” the facts when he testified to Congress last month.

Hasan linked to a video of Taibbi's testimony, in which the Racket News journalist noted that "Twitter executives did not distinguish between [the Department of Homeland Security] or [the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency] and this group [the Election Integrity Partnership]" and that emails show and EIP worked in concert with CISA to flag content for moderation. Hasan claimed this is a lie, that Taibbi conflated a private nonprofit with a government agency during his testimony, and that EIP only worked with the Center for Internet Security, or CIS, a private sector organization with a similar acronym, not CISA.

It’s a serious charge and federal crime to make false statements to Congress, one punishable with prison time.

But the record shows that CISA, the government agency, was involved in the very formation of EIP and was one of the most important government partners to the group in its bid to influence content moderation decisions at firms such as Facebook and Twitter. EIP’s own leaders have said as much, and there is endless documentation – from publicly available websites, to discovery from litigation, and from the “Twitter Files” – that all confirm this relationship and CISA’s role in assisting EIP.

In other words, Hasan is wrong and presents a deeply distorted view of the mechanics of this process. Taibbi’s testimony, especially the video excerpted by Hasan, is accurate.

MSNBC Host Joy-Ann Reid Was Apparently Russian Trolls’ Favorite Pundit

No better way of fomenting hate than drawing attention to Joy-Ann Reid.

In fact, Joy-Ann Reid has made somewhat of a sport out of criticizing Sanders’ over the Russian issue in particular. Last year, she criticized Sanders and his supporters for repeating claims of Democratic National Committee fraud as little more than a Russian plot.

All in all, Reid was elevated by Russian trolls above Sanders by a ratio of roughly five-to-one.

MSNBC Invites on "Analyst" Who Called for an ISIS Bombing of a Trump Building to Put Today's Shootings in Context

Via Ace of Spades:

MSNBC "Analyst" Malcolm Nance

Sorry -- I've been trying to convince people on the right that the only way to fight a double-standard is to finally insist on a single-standard, and impose the same rules on our Ruling Class that they impose on us.

It's not that you guys aren't important -- it's just that most of you already agree.

But there's a contingent on the right that keeps arguing that we must pretend the rule we want is already in force, and can't seem to grasp that the rule we don't want is already in force, but only selectively deployed against us.

See, for example, this solid citizen whose objection to disorganized violence against the right is that it should be more organized so it will be more effective.

But CNN, the Washington Post, and the New York Times will keep writing apologias for leftist violence -- when they bother to even acknowledge it.

Now is not the time to start yelling "Rhetoric doesn't cause violence!" 1, it almost certainly does -- a society that condones thievery will see more thieving, after all -- and 2, we cannot continue living under the "Republican rhetoric only causes violence!" rule.

A bad rule is many times worse when it is only applied against a disfavored caste.

Read the whole thing.

MSNBC Host Krystal Ball Silent On Her Involvement In ‘Stop Rush’ Pressure Campaign

MSNBC host Krystal Ball refuses to talk about her participation in the “Stop Rush” campaign targeting conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh’s advertisers....

“Stop Rush” is a campaign principally organized by Angelo Carusone, who is now a Media Matters executive vice president embroiled in controversy after TheDC published racist and anti-Semitic blog posts that he wrote.

Let's try an experiment, at the next Tea Party rally throw rocks at the press

Glenn Reynolds says:
I DUNNO, IT’S ONLY CONJECTURE WITHOUT AN EXPERIMENT: Yep: MSNBC would react quite differently if Tea Partiers threw rocks at them.

Here's the baseline: MSNBC's Larry O'Conner gets rocks thrown at him by masked members of the race riot in Ferguson. He's quite calm about it and keeps spinning.

Now let's have the same scenario, but the rock throwers are participating in a Tea Party rally. Then we can compare and contrast. But you really don't need to run the experiment, do you?

GE: We Bring Bad Karma to Life

It turns out that GE, in bed with Obama from before the beginning of his disastrous administration, is suffering from the policies of the administration it cheered on.

General Electric is telling its investors that Obamacare is to blame for recent losses in the company’s health care division, The Daily Caller has learned.

It's noted that it's the stupid inconsistency of Team Obama that is leading to the current economic malaise, much as it did during FDR's "Great Depression."

The second under-discussed issue is what scholar Robert Higgs has called “regime uncertainty.” Roosevelt’s victory in 1936 had been so convincing that people believed he might do anything. FDR reinforced this suspicion with an inaugural address so aggressive that modern presidential advisers would never allow it on the teleprompter. Roosevelt told the nation he sought in government “an instrument of unimagined power.” That scared markets and small businesses.

Roosevelt relished hunting down big firms through regulatory action and blaming new sectors, such as utilities, for slowdowns — on some days. Other days, he invited business leaders into the Oval Office and talked about partnership and a “breathing spell.”

This inconsistency itself posed a problem. The diary of an Ohio lawyer named Daniel Roth, which was recently republished, captures the pervasive anxiety of the period. “We are having a bad steel strike in Youngstown and the mills have closed,” Roth wrote on June 22, 1937. “The state and federal governments seem to support the labor unions and there has been a complete breakdown of law and order. Business is very quiet.”

From the U.K., John Maynard Keynes wrote to FDR that it was all right
to nationalize utilities or to leave them alone — but what, Keynes asked, was “the object of chasing the utilities around the lot every other week?””

Chris Christie's Staff Blames Bridge Closing on Anti-Islam Video

Hilarious!
CHRIS MATTHEWS: I’m on the phone live with former Secretary of State Clinton. Thank you for calling, Madam Secretary.

HILLARY: Oh, my pleasure Chris.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Madam Secretary, what was your initial reaction when you heard the Christie people are blaming a YouTube video for the George Washington bridge lane closings?

HILLARY: Oh gosh, Chris. Not only is it shameful to blame a harmless video that nobody has seen for the massacre on that bridge, but to hide behind a lie in order to avoid responsibility is … well, it’s unconscionable.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Amazing isn’t it, Madam Secretary?

HILLARY: What kind of people are capable of such acts of cowardice, Chris? It’s deplorable, inexcusable and frankly, it’s un- American.

The Daily Rash via Vander Leun.

TRENTON – This afternoon staff members loyal to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie alleged that the September closing of traffic lanes leading to the George Washington bridge was the result of a spontaneous reaction to an anti-Islam YouTube video. Although Gov. Christie has apologized for “unwittingly” misleading the public, calling the bridge closing “embarrassing and humiliating,” his staffers have nevertheless filed a complaint with the justice department, calling for an FBI investigation. Christie spokesman Collin Reed read a brief statement to reporters.

“The information, the best information and the best assessment we have today is that in fact these were not preplanned, premeditated lane closings. That what happened was a spontaneous reaction to a vile and despicable film that pokes fun at the prophet Mohammad. Let me state very clearly and I hope it is obvious, that the New Jersey Governor’s office had absolutely nothing to do with this insensitive video. We absolutely reject its content and message and call for the immediate investigation of its filmmaker.”

After attending a fundraiser at Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s Malibu home today, President Obama was asked by reporters to comment on the latest news out of New Jersey.

obama egypt Chris Christies Staff Blames Bridge Closing on Anti Islam Video“I want to personally extend my heartfelt sympathies to the victims of the lane closings,” Obama said. “If I had family members who commuted from New Jersey to New York, some of them would look like the folks stuck on the George Washington bridge. Now, it seems highly implausible that the horrifying chaos so many of us watched unfold on that bridge was a spontaneous reaction to a silly YouTube video. And I find it even harder to believe the American people are gullible enough to accept such a ludicrous story. The American people aren’t stupid.”

And this is a pitch perfect Chris Mattews spoof:

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Thank you for calling, Madam President. I’m back with my guest, African American journalist, Eugene Robinson. (Looks at Robinson) What the heck is going on in New Jersey, my African American friend? Is this Chris Christie’s dress stain? His illegitimate love-child? His toe-tap in the airport men’s room?

EUGENE ROBINSON: Well I ….

CHRIS MATTHEWS: And my God, what about the covert racism? Are Republicans ever going to evolve from the Jim Crow era? Did you happen to notice how many times Gov. Christie said bridge during his mea culpa?

EUGENE ROBINSON: Uh, another racial code word?

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Ha! Look at you, Eugene, playing naive! Ha! Why doesn’t Christie just wear his white hood to press conferences?

EUGENE ROBINSON: I think …

CHRIS MATTHEWS: But the gall, Eugene … laying the blame for the lane closings on a video nobody’s seen? Is that the best they can do? How stupid do these white men think we are? Is it any wonder Republicans have alienated women and Hispanics? Huh? Talk to me my African American friend.

EUGENE ROBINSON: Well, what I think ….

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Hold on, Eugene. (listens to earpiece) Looks like they need to wipe the spittle off the camera lens again. Let’s take a commercial break and when we come back, MSNBC lesbian Rachel Maddow will tell us about the devastating effects Christie’s bridge closing had on the LGBT community. You’re watching Hardball!

(You do know that no one ever says anything on Hardball except Matthews. His guest could as well be cardboard cut-outs.)

A walk down memory lane with Al Sharpton and Tawanda Brawley

Ann Coulter does a masterful job of reminding us what had the news media fixated in 1987 - the hoax orchestrated by MSNBC host Al Sharpton:

Back in November 1987, 15-year-old Tawana Brawley was found curled up inside a plastic bag in an apartment building parking lot. She had feces and racist graffiti all over her body, her clothing was torn and burned, and she was apparently unconscious.

When she emerged from her (fake) unconsciousness, she claimed she had been held captive in the woods for several days, while being raped and beaten by six white men, including policemen and the local prosecutor.

The story being utterly preposterous, every law enforcement agency in the universe was called in to investigate -- the FBI, local, county and state police. Gov. Mario Cuomo directed the state attorney general, Robert Abrams, to investigate Brawley's claims.

MSNBC's Al Sharpton was one of Brawley's "advisers" throughout this massively expensive investigation, along with lawyers Alton Maddox and C. Vernon Mason -- both later disbarred.

Eight months and 1.3 million taxpayer dollars later (in today's dollars), the purported attack was exposed as a complete fraud. It turned out that Brawley made up the gang-rape story to avoid explaining to her volatile stepfather why she hadn't come home for four nights straight.

Among other findings, the grand jury's 170-page report noted these facts:

-- Witnesses saw Brawley getting into the plastic bag by herself, and then hopping around in it before curling up into a ball on the ground.

-- The hospital rape tests were negative and no semen was found anyplace on her body.

-- She had no recent bruises or other marks on her body consistent with rape.

-- Hospital technicians who evaluated Brawley concluded that she was faking unconsciousness.

-- Brawley was well-nourished, had clean breath, no bruises or injuries to her body and was not suffering from exposure, despite temperatures having dropped to freezing several times when she was allegedly being gang-raped in the woods.

-- Witnesses had seen Brawley in a vacant apartment where she had once lived during the period of the alleged attack.

-- In that apartment, investigators found charred fibers matching the burnt clothes Brawley had been found in, the source of the material that had been stuffed in her nose and ears, and the feces that had been smeared on her. Investigators even identified the dog whose feces it was. Her dirty clothes were still in a washing machine in the building.

At no point did Sharpton question Brawley's story or urge her to recant. To the contrary, as the case fell apart, Sharpton's demagoguery rose to Olympian heights.

He branded Abrams "Hitler," called Gov. Mario Cuomo a racist, and demanded that Cuomo appoint Maddox special prosecutor on the case. (It was a reasonable request: Maddox had accused Abrams of masturbating to photos of Brawley.)

Even in 1997 -- a decade after Brawley's story had been proved a hoax beyond a scintilla of a doubt -- Sharpton arranged for her to give a speech to his United African Movement at a Brooklyn church.

I find it hard to believe that Al Sharpton did not know Brawley was lying about being raped by a Nazi cult on the Wappingers Falls police force.

Just a reminder; this is the same news media that are feeding us the same kinds of lies by Team Obama and his allies including ... wait for it ... the "reporter" Al Sharpton.  Keep in mind that this was a "story" where the key element was race baiting.  Times really have not changed at all; the same race baiters are still at it.  You can keep this media, of you want it.  Me, personally, not so much.

CNN host orders producers to cut Larry Klayman from screen during interview...

FRom the Left Wing site Politico.

Conservative legal activist Larry Klayman got into an argument on CNN with host Don Lemon and legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin when he was brought on to discuss his victory this week in a lawsuit challenging NSA surveillance, resulting in Lemon cutting him off the screen and Klayman comparing Lemon to disgraced former MSNBC host Martin Bashir.

Klayman’s appearance Tuesday night on CNN was preceded by a profile of him that included a quotation from a former George W. Bush staffer saying his lawsuits were about “fighting for himself and his own, in my opinion, delusions of grandeur.”

When Klayman was brought into the conversation, he came out firing. “I think it is important to note that you’re a big supporter of Obama,” Klayman said to Lemon. “That you have favored him in every respect. You have to try to do a hit piece to diminish a very important decision.

Populist blowhard Ed Schultz secretly flies on his own fleet of private jets.

MSNBC host Ed Schultz, who has repeatedly criticized opponents for owning private jets, owns multiple private jets and conceals his flight data from the public.

He makes $4 million a year.  It's easy to be a socialist when you're wealthy.  You certainly don't want to clutter up your gated community, Manhattan condo with the doorman or your private jet terminal with the "little people."

Martin Bashir resigns

It's an amazing demonstration that the MSM can't spike a story any more.  A Liberal nutcase can actually be forced to resign from his particular part of the Liberal zoo for outrageous comments made on the air.

What is said about this racist, sexist, misogynistic pig after he leaves? Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC.
I thank him for three great years with MSNBC. Martin is a good man and respected colleague – we wish him only the best.”

That tells you all you need to know about MSNBC. He spent 6 years with ABC News, which tells you all you need to know about ABC. Next stop, Al Jazeera.
