Beam Me Up, Louis

Mark Steyn on Louis Farrakhan August 2001

You can't blame Louis Farrakhan, the man behind the 1995 Million Man March in Washington, for seeking to have lifted the ban on his entry to the United Kingdom. And you can't blame Britain's High Court for last week's decision approving his petition. Indeed, the only wonder is that he was ever banned in the first place. After all, the Nation of Islam's leader can produce any number of glowing testimonials: "I have respect for him," said Al Gore's running mate, Joe Lieberman. Minister Farrakhan's message, said Jack Kemp, the 1996 Republican Vice-Presidential nominee, is "wonderful."

This would be the message that Judaism is the "Synagogue of Satan"? Ah, well, let's not get hung up on details. Senator Lieberman is an Orthodox Jew, but that doesn't mean he can't "respect" a guy who thinks Hitler is "a great man" and advises Joe's crowd to try figuring out what they did to bug him. "Everybody talks about what Hitler did to you," Farrakhan pointed out in 1994. "What did you do to Hitler? What made that man so mad at you?"

Senator Lieberman passed on that one, but did say recently that he feels sure the Minister "doesn't want to be a divisive figure." Thank goodness for that.

Thus, the complicated dynamic of American racial politics, of which Britain, for all its other woes, is blessedly free. It has black government ministers, black members of the House of Lords, black network news anchors, black pop stars and black sporting heroes, but no permanent elite of black grievance-mongers. On the sliding scale of African-American community leaders, Minister Farrakhan does not have the mainstream respectability of Jesse Jackson, the race industry's highest-earning shakedown artist, nor even of the Reverend Al Sharpton, the corpulent bouffant mob-inciting charlatan to whom Hillary Clinton, Al Gore and all other Democrat candidates must pay court. Yet arguably Farrakhan speaks for more of the black community than either of them.

Mark Steyn's Take On Jussie Smollett Fake Hate Crime: "The Tinge of Fake hate"

"In Chicago where people are violently attacked all week long, every weekend dozens and dozens of people get shot, this is the only guy who actually has to pay somebody four grand to whack him. That's how little homophobia and racism there is in Chicago.  Everybody else is too busy shooting each other on a non-racial, non-homophobic basis that this guy has to pay two Nigerians four grand to beat the crap out of him."

View the whole thing.

Mark comments on the reaction from the media and Democrats: what's fascinating is that a lot of big shot commentators who don't refer to the Smollett "attack" as a freakish thing - which it is - but that they actually say that this is America in 2019 as if black homosexuals are attacked on sub-zero temperatures in Chicago, doused with bleach and having clothesline hung around their necks every day.   That's insane!

Are they everywhere or are we paranoid?

Richard Fernandez @ Belmont Club

To hear tell there are now racists and Nazis everywhere. They lie in wait on freezing streets waiting to victimize people of color. They surround hapless native Americans in Washington with insulting smirks. They are depicted as driving around in trucks flying confederate flags chasing minority children. Racists are even able to masquerade as Democratic officials. Is there nothing they can't do?...

The year 2016 was a traumatic experience, shattering left wing sense of safety and dominance. Hillary's defeat -- and to a lesser extent Brexit and the rise of populism in Europe -- demonstrated the astonishing fragility of the mainstream liberal project and provided shocking proof that "the plague never dies". The boogeymen the progressives seek to exterminate can apparently resist any fumigation, indoctrination or persuasion leaving liberal activists like those characters in horror movies who shoot at Dracula without effect. This in turn led to renewed interest in outright socialism among Democrats. If Hillary and her billions proved useless against the MAGA werewolf perhaps Bernie Sanders and AOC have the silver bullet.

The alternative explanation is that there were serious defects in the liberal project and the pushback is due to those defects and not to some racist virus. That would explain 2016 too. Perhaps the most powerful contribution of the revolt against Bolivarianism in Venezuela is how it demonstrates that poor brown people can rise up against socialism without being members of the KKK. It's not always race but the economic system that makes the difference.

But this can hardly be persuasive to true believers for whom gender, race and sexual politics explain history. For them abortion, high taxes and a giant state are articles of faith and challenging them is evil. Words, arguments or symbolic proofs are largely useless against strongly held beliefs. Only experience can falsify -- and only temporarily -- cultic belief. In this respect Venezuela is also instructive. It changed. For decades Venezuela's poor held loyal to the belief that the socialists were on "their side". Now they are fighting Maduro....

Is the return of racists and Nazis the explanation for the current headlines? Or are people genuinely rising up against bloated incompetence? Time will tell. Reality always tells us which model is correct.

The Federalist: "Everyday Feminism Seminar Offers To Heal ‘Internalized Whiteness’"

If you have about 500 bucks, a few days off this spring, and live in Washington DC, New York City, or Oakland, then you can participate in Everyday Feminism’s training, titled, “Healing from Internalized Whiteness.” According to its website, this training will help you, “stop arguing with white people about racism and discover how to invite them into racial justice work for their own healing and liberation.” ...

The very concept of healing internalized whiteness means that whiteness itself must be a sickness, or wound. Now, proponents would argue that they are not saying that being a white person is in and of itself a sickness, but they are saying that every white person has a condition, called whiteness, that is making them sick. It’s hard to see the real difference.

2. The ice cream truck song.
3. Credit scores.
4. Car insurance.
5. Crime statistics.
6. Halloween costumes.
7. Calling Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas.”
8. Most of the better Disney movies.
9. Dr. Seuss.
10. White flight.

Read the whole thing.

And...
“They say“ I’M A WHITE SUPREMACIST, partly because “they say so.”
“They say“ I’m a white supremacist, partly because they say writing and speaking properly is white privilege.
“They say“ I’m a white supremacist, partly because they say acting in a civilized manner is “acting white” and thereby racist.
“They say“ I’m a white supremacist, partly because they point to advanced civilization (not limited to mathematics, fine arts, etc…but you get the idea) as “white supremacism.”
“They say“ I’m a white supremacist, partly because they say intelligence is “white oppression” and “systematic racism.”
So, I’m a white supremacist, simply because they acknowledge my mind, behavior and culture are better than they and theirs are…and, who am I to argue?!?

My job is to listen and be a voice and shut other white people down when they want to interrupt.”

When the demand for racism vastly exceeds the supply, call Hollywood!

The subjects of a TV documentary series about the Ku Klux Klan abruptly canceled last week by A&E allege to Variety that significant portions of what was filmed were fabricated by the producers.

Some KKK leaders divulged that they were paid hundreds of dollars in cash each day of filming to compel them on camera to distort the facts of their lives to fit the documentary’s predetermined narrative: tension between Klan members and relatives of theirs who wanted to get out of the Klan....

The production team even paid for material and equipment to construct and burn wooden crosses and Nazi swastikas, according to multiple sources including Richard Nichols, who is one of the featured subjects of the documentary series as the Grand Dragon of a KKK cell known as the Tennessee White Knights of the Invisible Empire. He also said he was encouraged by a producer to use the epithet “nigger” in interviews....

“They kept asking me, wanting me, to use the word ‘nigger,’” said Nichols, who alleged he was paid $600 per day by producers to participate. “I was sitting down being filmed and interviewed with the lights and the backdrop set up, and I said something and used the word ‘blacks.’ Then the producer interrupted me and said ‘No, no, no. We want him to use the word “nigger!”’’’

TIJAT producers went so far as to orchestrate more than one cross-burning ceremony in Pulaski, though it is presented in the documentary as if the KKK is actually hosting the event. “We’ve been allowed special access to film this secret induction,” reads a title card that precedes one of the cross-burning scenes.

“It was the producers who told me they wanted a cross-lighting,” recounted Nichols. “In fact they made two cross-lightings cause they wanted to reshoot some scenes. They bought everything—the wood, the burlap to wrap around the wood, the diesel and kerosene for my cross lighting. They even brought all the food for everyone.”

It appears that real white racists are so thin on the ground that Liberals have to create them in order ot make a movie designed to lie about America.

The irony is that they could make a movie about racists in America, but the leading characters would be black.

From the comments:  I will soon be 87, was born in and spent my entire life in Alabama. Never – not once – have I ever seen or known of a Klansman. Doesn’t it seem strange that some make the claim that the KKK is a potent force in the South, yet in almost 87 years I’ve never even been aware they existed? Compare this with potent organizations today such as Black Lives Matter, and others as well.

When white supremacy was a real force, the Democrats were doing it. Now that it's a spent force, they're trying to blame it on the right.

The Democrats have always been the party of racism and bigotry, and today is no different. High-level democratic officials privately use slurs to describe blacks, Hispanics, and even Catholics, but publicly shift blame to Republicans.
