AWB expires!

The assault weapons ban actually expired. And you know what? There’s not a darned thing I need to go out and buy, except maybe a few new high capacity magazines for my Ruger 10-22. At the range a few weeks back, my ex-wife’s niece dropped one of mine, fully loaded with fifty rounds, and it hit the concrete hard enough to disintegrate, so I’m down to two. And you need fifty quick rounds to stop the charge of an irate cola can…

I don’t need any more “assault weapons”. I got Corey an AR-15 in case he decides to begin participating in rifle matches. An Ar-15 is just right for small boys. For me, I shoot a varied assortment of Garands, an M1A, and I’m seriously looking at competing in the 600-yard “F” Class with my AR-10. It’s gosh-awfully accurate, and I’m sitting on a few cans of US GI match ammo that works well in it.

And over the years I’ve acquired various other killing machines favored by various groups with less than benign thoughts: A Chicom AK-47 clone, a Chicom SKS, a Yugoslav SKS, and a half-dozen or so bolt-action rifles, including one really comfortable M1903A3 which is a good shooter.

So a bad law bites the dust. I’m glad. But the books are full of bad laws.

Why not Kerry?

Based on my own experiences in the National Guard and also on what I’ve read in the blogosphere and MSM, I believe that George Bush served honorably during his tenure in the Guard.

But let’s just soppose, for one momemt, that he didn’t. That he pulled strings, missed commitments, and avoided the Guard at every corner…

There’s some things HE DID NOT DO: He did not take an active role in undermining the efforts of Americans still in Viet Nam. He did not visit and consort with the enemy. He did not LIE before the U.S. Senate. And he did not step on the bodies of dea Americans to further his political ambitions…
