More spam stuff…

I hate comment spam.  Some days I get a couple of dozen that get past the anti-spam features of Spam Karma and Bad Behavior, and they show up as “comments” on old posts. Before I installed Bad Behavior, I used to get a couple hundred comment spams a day.  I was spending a bunch of time deleting spam, and a lot were getting through the filters.  It’s gotten much better, but I still get a few.  Accordingly, I have added one more level of anti-spam to comments.

As always, if you can’t comment leave me a note.  Really!  I want to know.  If the big software upgrade didn’t fix things, then I need to do some digging.  Heaven knows, I don’t get so many comments that I can afford to block the real ones…

Keesie, try again, then email me a note with whatever shows up on the screen this time…

Them versus Us

I firmly believe that a large portion of the growth and success of the United States of America is due to the classless foundations of society.  While our colonial forebears did include some folks from the upper strata of Europe in the 1600’s and 1700’s, a great portion was drawn from common people who saw the New World as the place to escape the dead end of European class barriers.  Our country was founded on documents thtat essentially stated that all men are created equal.

I believe that when this ceases, America will cease to exist as we know it.

Our “shining city on a hill” is being dismantled.  We have a congress noted for passing laws that apply to us, the vast unwashed, and at the same time those same laws do NOT apply to them.

Elected officials will happily sit and oversee enforcement of laws for you and me and ignore those same laws themselves.  A recent case in point?  Governor Corzine of New Jersey was involved in an auto accident.  He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.  New Jersey, like most states, has a MANDATORY seatbelt law.  His own staff, including the state police officer who was his driver, note that he routinely ignores this law.  Now I ask you, exactly WHO is the senior official responsible for enforcemnt of all state laws?  Let me answer:  It’s the GOVERNOR!  But he’s the GOVERNOR,  and he’s above the law.  Those laws are for you and me.  He’s part of the imperial court, and he’s above the law.

Just wait and see:  I guarantee that if Hillary’s universal healthcare passes, Congress will be loopholed out of it, or they will be given access to gold-plated facilities not accessible to us peasants, just as they do for social security and for many other laws.  You say you’re a small businessman?  You’re subject to Equal Employment Rights laws.  Run afoul of them, and you find yourself in Federal court.  But Congress?  Those laws don’t apply.

No, folks, this country might not have started out with a ruling class, but we’re rapidly approaching the point where we HAVE a ruling class.  And we elected them.
