As parents we must note the milestones in the lives of our children. tonight is one of those nights. My eighteen year old daughter has beaten me at “Trivial Pursuit”. In times past, she has come close, lagging behind one category, but she beat me tonight. Me, that used to take on an entire control room full of operators on those long graveyard shifts in years past.
I regard this with some joy.
yes, i beat you. go me!
Congratulations to you daughter, and to you! It’s always a mixed bag, isn’t it, when our children best us?
I got used to it back when my five year old daughter grasped the concept of dominoes far too quickly and took me to task.
Then my son learned.
I have never let my children win a game against me. I have, on occasion, helped them to make better plays, but they learned to play the games well.
Trivial Pursuit, I’m still the Queen in my house. I’m a “trivial” person. I may always hold the title. Don’t know how much longer that will last though, as they continue to get smarter and pick up on the things I know. I may weep openly. I’m not sure yet.
You get used to it….not only did all my children get taller than either of their parents, they’re smarter than us, too…well, at least more educated :)
