1520 – The Spaniards are expelled from Tenochtitlan. White European interlopers were trying to interfere in the indigenous peoples’ quaint customs of human sacrifice.
1908 – The Tunguska event occurs in Siberia. We still aren’t sure what it was, but it was definitely an event.
1934 – The Night of the Long Knives, Adolf Hitler’s violent purge of his political rivals in Germany, takes place. People with opposing viewpoints died, just like Vince Foster.
1950 – I was born.
1953 – The first Chevrolet Corvette rolls off the assembly line in Flint, Michigan. “Wrap your ass in fiberglass.”
1960 – Congo gains independence from Belgium. Freed of the interference of the white European interlopers, tribal harmony is restored and the region becomes a beacon of peace and tranquility known for its fairness and cultural richness. Right?!?!?
1971 – Ohio ratifies the 26th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, lowering the voting age to 18, thereby putting the amendment into effect. “Dude, I’, like, votin’ fer him ‘cuz he’s, like, all cool, an’ he knows that grass ain’t nuthin’ and stuff.”
1990 – East Germany and West Germany merge their economies. As in “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down THIS wall!”
We need a Constitutional Amendment that limits voting to property owners. That would cut out all of the BS where the lower-class folks would try to vote for socialists who would loot the rich to buy votes from the poor.
And for those who think it’s a good idea to rob the rich to “help” the poor, it has never worked, and can never work, so stop trying that dumb stuff already!

Happy Birthday. I said that on Facebook, too, yesterday, in case I forgot!
Happy birthday, you old coonass!
Happy Birthday MC
I knew there was a reason when I woke up this morning that I wanted to start consuming large quantities of alcohol! Happy birthday, sir!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday, buddy…have a great day!
Happy Birthday! May you enjoy many, many more.
Beat me by ~3 months. Have been linked and will – ’cause you seem to sing from the same hymnal. Bless ya, amigo.
Happy birthday. And, I agree on limiting voting to property owners, though I wouldn’t go as far as calling folks lower-class. That is so Indian (asian that is). My sister in-law really got het up when I told her that only property owners should vote the other night (and they are property owners). She is one of those democrats that believe everything the party says.
Many taxes are “hidden” to non-property owners, if they had a property tax bill every year, it would make a huge difference. Then of course there is the income tax. If you don’t have income and pay taxes how can you really understand what we are protesting?
Happy Birthday to my best friend. Hope you have many many more!!!!
Happy Birthday!! I hope to continue gleaning bits of your wisdom for many years! While growing up, whenever mom was angry with me (can you believe that??), she would alternately accuse me of being just like you and/or my dad…..I’m still hoping to one day be able to fill either of your shoes.
Happy Birthday, MC!
re: the 26th amendment…I was 17 at the time, so I was one of the crowd of 18 year olds who voted for the first time in the 1972 presidential election. Held my nose and voted for Richard Nixon. Given the same choice (George McGovern!!) I would do it again in a heartbeat.
First corvette was metal. The rest were (and are) fiberglass.
Belated happy birthday.
Happy Belated Birthday!!
You need to add one more to this list: In 1967, I was born, too.
Nice to see we share a birthday.
