Jouster’s on the way back!

My favorite social venue on the internet, CSP Gun Talk, is on the way back. CSP? That’s Culver’s Shooting Pages, the product of Major Dick Culver, USMC and his gracious wife Miz Gloria. I was visiting Gun Talk more than ten years ago. it was home and family on line, the gathering spot for some real experts on American martial arms, fitting because Major Culver was a one-time director of the federal Directorate of Civilian Marksmanship.

The original message board was just that, one big message board that collected EVERYTHING. A serious post about a historical aspect of the Garand rifle might be butted right up against a rollicking thread of irreverent political jokes and satire. In later years the Culvers did break things out, offering specialized fora for specific weapons. The M1/M14 board was a place you could meet THE experts, authors with published writings, shooter who’d taken trophies in national competition, etc. The Second Amendment and Political Page gave me constant fodder for this blog. it was loud, roisterous, sometimes strident, but FUN.

About a year ago I guess it got to be a bit too much and the original Jouster.com site shut down and the boards and names moved to MilSurps.com. Not taking anything away from MilSurps, but I don’t think thwy were ready for some of the shenanigans that were regular features of CSP. At first they made the Political Forum a restricted access forum, and then they shut it down completely.

And now it appears from the link above and from emails I’ve received that the Culvers are going to get back into CSP Gun Talk and Jouster.com.

And that makes me happy.

  1. Wonderful news!!!! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the Culvers at a few Reno Gun Shows and was also a regular poster on CSP. When it went to the news site I lost interest.
